But you could be spot on & I have heard that theory before come to think of it. I guess it just doesn't ring true to me cuz there was more going on with Ronda than just having a ***** that I would assume promoters to have picked up on.
rousey was beating bum after bum. A simple game plan of NOT clinching with her and forcing her into standup would have exposed her long ago, but every fight, these dumb women would go and get close to her and get submitted early. One of them, Zingano, went and jumped into her arms as soon as the bell rang and was submitted in 13 seconds. There is nothing exciting about mismatches in boxing or MMA. That's why I'm not gonna miss HBO because they were experts at placing the house fighter with a mismatch and selling it to the public as a competitive fight.

But this is sports in general. No one wants to see two top opponents go at it canceling each other's strengths like a 4 hour chess match until someone gets an opening. Noooo, people just want to see mismatches and 1 sided beatings and claim they're fight fans.

What you're failing to mention about Rousey is that while she was at 145 in Strike Force(and was at 154 in the olympics), as soon as she became Cyborg's #1 contender and was ringside for another of her 1 round destructions, he quickly went to 135 and stayed there until Holm exposed her.

It's gonna happen, but it's gonna have to happen against non competition. Just like my last post. People love one sided non competitive fights. When there is a weight class in which a champion is just destroying females that shouldn't even be sparring, much less in a boxing match, she'll get promoted properly because the casuals, and so called boxing fans, love non competitive one sided events. And everyone seems to be protecting that 0 in most weight classes. Katie Taylor is great to look at. I love her combinations and movement. It's a wonderful thing to see

        Really brother?

Please tell me about the non-bums, or as I prefer to call them in female fighting non-soccer moms, Christy Martin beat.

Hell I'll tell you about the non-bums Laila beat cuz its a short list & I followed more of her career than Christy's. Laila's crowning achievements in boxing were beating the aforementioned Martin when she was washed & beating Joe Frazier's daughter who hadn't beaten a opponent with a winning record yet.

The whole female fighting game is a tiny amount of fighters of any skill level to start with. Then there are a handful of legit talented fighters & then 99.9% soccer moms.

Regardless of **** measuring female fighting resumes, which honestly I can't think of a more boring thing to do as male resume **** measuring is boring as f#ck & an endless game of oneupmanship by two Sunday morning KO artists, the most important thing I brought up had ZERO to do with legacy anyway.

I'm talking about popularity & passion & loyalty to the sport. And Ronda was f#cking HUGE for female fighting & the biggest name & the most popular female fighter ever. And fans are more loyal & care more about female MMA cuz its sold as & just is more fun, more sexy, more exciting & more evenly matched.

No one wants to see two top opponents go at it canceling each other's strengths like a 4 hour chess match until someone gets an opening.
I could not disagree with this more. ALL I wanna see is two competitively matched opponents fight at all levels of the sport. Thats what I love about boxing not seeing one guy merk some guy who shouldn't even be sparring with the other guy.

The success of the UFC is built on that exact matchmaking model. If you ever look at their cards it can often be a complete show of guys who've both won their last fights & guys who've both lost their last fights or have similar UFC records. Its why guys show up to watch UFC cards from opening fight to main event unlike most TV level boxing shows. I think boxing would be immensely more popular if matchmaking was more about competition than making one guy look good.

What you're failing to mention about Rousey is that while she was at 145 in Strike Force(and was at 154 in the olympics), as soon as she became Cyborg's #1 contender and was ringside for another of her 1 round destructions, he quickly went to 135 and stayed there until Holm exposed her.
Lol I didn't mention a whole f#ckload of sh^t about Ronda cuz it wasn't relevant to the point I was bringing up.

Some of you guys are just super insecure about boxing in a world where MMA co-exists with it & gotta be trying to dog MMA & it's athletes. Maybe thats your thing or maybe not idk, but Ronda's legacy & specific moves in MMA have nothing to do with her hugeness to female fighting.

It'd be like discounting Tyson cuz his popularity & hype exceeded his legacy in boxing. Granted some do that, but Tyson's reality is Tyson's reality. I myself overrated Tyson's legacy in boxing at one time off of his demolishment of opponents. It doesn't change the reality that he became among the biggest boxers in the history of the sport due to his destruction of opponents & general excitement & anticipation for his fights. And not unlike Ronda while to most their reign at the top might not be filled with legendary names the reality is they were among the best opponents at the time.

And sure their probably is some hype building that gets done when you are 2x or w/e better than anyone you'll face for a short stretch of time early in your world class level run.

But that doesn't really mean sh^t cuz the goal of all fighters should be to be the best today. Thats all any fighter can achieve. You can't be the best fighter of the past or future. Thats for dorks living in their moms basement or on their ex-gf's couch to decide for all of us I'm pretty sure.

I'm actually looking forward to this fight to see these girls unify. The all access show wasn't too bad either. That GWOAT crap from Shields though was cringe worthy

These women don't work any less than the guys who box for a living so I'm always happy when they get the exposure and money they deserve for the work so that they can take care of themselves and families.

I can't watch a 12 round female boxing match though despite being very respectful to the hustle. But I'm interested in watching the highlights afterwards.
