Shield is too emotional, is this an American thing? Just hope she doesn’t go in there and fought with built up emotions. Hammer is just like meh.... Shields on the other hand is just playing the wrong game.

The problem I have with Hammer is she seems to be focused on defense only. The problem I have with Shield is that I don't like classless people.

Maybe. I still see the depth of female boxing being a problem. I think more promising female fighters are doing MMA than boxing. Hell some of the female draws in boxing are flipping over to MMA themselves.

I'm not seeing ANY exciting girls boxing right now. I'm seeing a hell of a lot of distance fights doe.



To be fair to Braekhus she IS a star...IN her country or w/e. I think she's too old at this point to become a star in the US so I think her story is written more or less already.

Shields & Taylor can't KO damn near anyone. You don't become a star in boxing if you can't KO anyone. Or you need some other attributes.

One could argue Shields could become popular via hater fans like Floyd largely did, but mainly I still see people not giving a f#ck about her even if they think she is an ass hole.

Katie Taylor is hyped like crazy in the UK but the actual fans in the audience seem less invested in her. And these are UK fans who LOVE the people they love with a passion most US fighters never see. She's also got the same problems foreign non-latino male fighters have in the US. The US at large isn't super supportive of non-latino foreign boxers so its a massive uphill battle to gain ground with fans in the US.

Just don't see what mfers are thinking with this. If I'm legit trying to find the next Ronda I'm finding that rare thing in women's boxing...a girl with some f#cking pop. A girl who's KOing soccer moms will gain a bigger following organically as she continues KOing mfers. These promoters are trying to sell this current crop of pushed females like sh^tty used car salesmen who kick the tire of the vehicle your looking at & the rim pops off.

And if this is just a cheap content thing why are they selling these girls so hard?

It's not like women's MMA has huge depth either.

Now that Rousey has been exposed it doesn't have nearly the same buzz that it used to.

Women's boxing just needs to stay the course. Keep sowing the seeds and hope an exciting new star springs up.

It's not like they gonna rob Hammer blind like they did to Fury, Kovalev, GGG, Sturm and other fighters that came over to the US and fought one of their hyped up fighters. Hammer is also not as good as advertised, doesnt have ko power, so the outcome is quite obvious. There's a reason you cannot even bet on this fight anywhere in the world, because the outcome is already set.

Agreed, but they sell cuz they are exciting. They finish fights more than female boxers. They fight more competitive opponents more often. And they are sexy. And from hearing girls like Heather Hardy talk about there is more money in MMA than boxing for girls. Female boxing just has more issues than female MMA like it or not.

I ain't trying to get into another boxing vs MMA debate, but to me as a fan of both sports & who considers himself a hardcore fan of boxing & a casual fan of MMA I have much more fun watching females im the cage over the ring & to me thats the consensus opinion & thats lead to better opportunites for women in MMA than in boxing as combat sports athletes.

I can't explain in words how tired I am of people saying "exposed" when someone loses. Fighters win, fighters lose. Its just how it works. Outside of Rocky & Floyd I can't think of anyone who ended on top. Did all the world of combat sports get exposed except Rocky & Floyd? Or did they just lose? I'd say they just lost.

Was Ronda overrated? Yea sure. Show me the popular fighter who isn't overrated. There are a few, but most are considered better than they are just cuz more people talk about them it seems.

The bottom line is she was massively popular to the point she's sold more PPV's than all but 9 boxers. She's got more PPV buys than Cotto (#10 on the all time PPV buys list). And she's a f#cking woman. Thats mfing insane. Laila Ali was pretty huge in her day & she gots 100k PPV buys to her name & I believe to this day she's the first & last boxing PPV with female headliners. Ronda has more PPV headlining cards than all of boxing. Sh^t two other girls off the top of my head do to & I might be forgetting one or two people.

If that doesn't prove female MMA is more viable then female boxing & more fans of combat sports dig it idk what will convince you.

Well yea sure. But I just think it's a losing battle unless you can get fans invested in the sub-sport of female boxing like the UFC has gotten fans invested in the sub-sport of female MMA.

I got zero doubt there will be another Christy or Laila that captures fans interest in the US sooner or later. What happens from there doe? Does female boxing just go dark like it did when Laila left? I think it will.

Randomly I also think its telling that there is no female boxing promotion like there is in MMA (Invicta). Like someone legit believing in female boxing could easily capture a large segment of top girls & be the female boxing Al Haymon/PBC. Put on girl cards every few months. But no one is doing that. Why? Cuz not enough people give a f#ck about female boxing for there to be enough money to be viable like Invicta is in the MMA world.

Paying Wilder 10+million to fight a bum and doing all access shows on women nobody ever heard of or care about.

Not even worth the $10 a month anymore just for boxing.
