Man I like Spence a lot and Wilder showed a lot to me in that Ortiz fight so I am rooting for him to get some money as well.
But I just don't see either one of those guys becoming a PPV star. They aren't really close to it now and I just don't think the model is the same anymore. Floyd was smart and great and knew how to push buttons, but he also struck lightning with how he was able to pull off his successes imo. That path to Floyd success is not an easy blueprint to follow or even understand.
I don't think Floyd ever really had a lot of 'fans' - not to justify the PPV numbers he was getting anyway; he had most people tuning in to see him lose. Spence just doesn't resonate like that, as great as he is. And Wilder too. He just has never caught on.
I guess we will see but I don't think Spence carries over any of Mikey's fans from that PPV and similar for Wilder if he fought Joshua.
Wilder can play GGG to Joshua's Canelo and get paid, maybe a couple times. And that's what DAZN offered him. GGG is a bigger star than Wilder right now and has basically been a top 5 star in boxing for the last 5 years, but he still needed and still needs the Canelo fight to really make money. Everything else he does pales in comparison.
I think Joshua remains a much bigger star than Wilder win or lose.
