Why not just make Wilder a one fight deal of $60 million? No rematch clauses, and flip a coin for the venue. It reminds me of when Arum had Pacquiao he basically forced the agreement to sign if they wanted to fight Pac. Arum is still doing it now with ESPN/TR.

Also Ortiz chose to fight Wilder instead of AJ all he had to do was wait the IBF mando to be fought and appeal the WBA decision with a second sample as was offered to him but he didn't.

Because the subtext to this is the battle between competing broadcast models, Showtime's 90 dollar PPV versus DAZN's 10 dollar per month subscription.

DAZN need multiple fights, because otherwise they are in effect selling a 90dollar PPV for 10 dollars which obviously won't work. They want wilder on their network for 3 or 4 fights to maximise the number of people who sign up and stay signed up for long enough to, hopefully, enjoy the service and stay with them. Their model only makes sense if they retain customers beyond the one month trial period.

Showtime however don't care about that, they make their 90 dollars from the one fight.

So if wilder wants the DAZN 100m it would have to be over several fights. If he, or his advisors, want the one off PPV then he is in effect saying showtime or nothing.

US fight fans are being presented with two competing models for buying the biggest fights and those two models have aligned themselves with the two current hw champions. That's what this is all about.

I know it sounds quirky but finding out what the other fighter is getting seems to be standard operating procedure. Still hard to believe they turned down 120 because of it.

If Wilder-Joshua truly was worth $100m in 2018 (outside looking in, I believed that $70m was viable but couldn't see it going much further than that; assuming 60/40 on Joshua's take, Wilder's camp seemed to believe that there was a path to $85m in proceeds), and the fight is even bigger now, letting the market decide for the one fight isn't chat really.

No wonder boxing has become such a niche sport in the US. Too much politics, greed and excuses. Marinate it until Wilder is 37/38 years old, lose to the younger AJ in an over-hyped, underwhelming fight, and hammer another nail in boxings coffin. Same with Crawford and Spence.

DAZN doesn't operate in the UK, AJ sure as **** isn't going to abandon Sky Sports for ****ing DAZN, and Joshua's profile in the UK has still yet to really carry over in the US (noted by the slow ticket sales for Joshua-Miller so fast)

Genuine question, why is Deontay Wilder held to lower standards in comparison to Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury? Tyson Fury signs with ESPN, he's ducking Wilder. Wilder doesn't sign with Dazn which includes AJ fight, it's a business decision.
