I'll be a happy man if the next Floyd thread I see has some sort of news in it about a new fight or at least something worthy of us talking about. This topic has been beaten to death time and time again.

Actually, nobody has to say anything because his uncle's suspsension by the Nevada Commission runs into October so it is simply a fact that Roger cannot be in the corner for an October 7th bout. I believe I read that Ellerbe will be out of the area for some reason (scheduled previous to any talk of this fight).

Haven't read through any of this thread but here is the deal. My favorite fighter growing up was Pernell Whitaker. Even at a young age I remember the quickness and the slickness of Whitaker. Great fighter. I see Floyd now and I beleive he is the closest boxing has come to another Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker. I'm a fan of the guy. He is n exciting, spectacular fighter, politics aside, I couldn't hate someone like that.

As for the out of the ring business, I'm a little more indifferent. I mean, I REALLY don't think that a Margarito fight is 100% necessary, but I still don't like the prospects of a De La Hoya fight. Never have.

It's pointless I think. I mean, where is the need for this fight? De La Hoya was a great fighter but he is a promoter now and more of a part time fighter. I mean...he beat Ricardo Mayorga. Since when did beating Mayorga give you a shot at the number one pound for pound fighter in the world? Other then that he lost his 3 fights before that. I don't want to see this fight. I can't blame Mayweather for wanting it though, it is the fight worth the most money out there.

Truthfully, if he fought Hatton, Margarito, Baldomir or Collazo.
