GGG got noteriety because those certain people needed an edomite that they (US boxing fans) could root for. Good ole american racism, you can get elected president with those tactics Dont get mad when it comes back to ya, ask the current pres.

The guy is/was one of the top fighters in this era. In his physical prime, he would've beaten Canelo more convincingly, that's for sure.

That said, he's not some ATG or anything.

Ultimately we can tear apart anyones resume if we have an agenda, right? if we really had an agenda, we could say with different/fair judges that Canelo could have 4/5 losses on his record. It is what it is. People are either the best thing since sliced bread these days or a bum.

If GGG is overrated then Canelo is too, when in his prime he only got a draw and very narrow win over an older GGG in fights most thought he lost both.
Nelo has a resume, Triple L doesn't. Triple L is overrated.

Won't fight anyone else at the top at 160 not named Canelo . Never became undisputed . Gave up his Ibf belt. These are all facts. They aren't opinions they are facts can you refute them ?
And what does any of that mean?
        • He won the title. It doesn't matter if you think his opponent was worthy of being champ or not. Then he set the record for title defenses in the division.
        • He had a couple of close fights against the best in the division and arguably won them all. Big deal.
        • Hagler never fought outside of the division. Does that make him overrated too?
        • He gave up his belt to make $35M against the #1 guy in the division. He took the toughest fight he could and it's life-changing money.

But none of that will matter to you because you'll never listen to reason. There's no reason to debate it because it's like trying to debate a 9/11 conspiracy theorist or an anti-vaxxer. It's not worth my time or effort.

This is actually funny. We now have two different users in this same thread, one accusing US fans of hating GGG because he's not black and another saying that US fans only like GGG because he's white.

You need to debate Jubei on this. I can't wait to see where it goes.

I would say he is overrated for the praise he gets from his die-hard fans who think he is P4P greatness, and I would say he is underrated by his haters who think he is a hype-job. He is an accomplished amateur and he was avoided by several fighters between 154-160. Cotto didn't want to fight him when he won the title from Martinez, Canelo wasn't ready even though he was a MW champ after defeating Cotto, and Martinez certainly didn't want any part of him either.

If GGG is the most overrated fighter of this generation then what does that make Canelo who got we can argue was gifted a draw and a win in their fights? The fact that they are so evenly matched would suggest that Canelo would be just as overrated if not moreso.

So if that’s the case what does that make canelo since he has a draw and a controversial win over GGG?
Nelo beat a good boxer (Lara) which Triple L ducked & Triple L has yet to beat a good boxer.

All you got is a cheap budget wanna be versions of GGG like Spence who is a weightbully and who is running from the top fighter in his own division, Crawford.
LMMFAO! NO, T.B.E. dominated & no one rates Errol the best welterweight ever. See the difference? Of course you don't cuz you a liar....LOL

Only 2 other fighters ever got as many hate threads as GGG and they are Pacquiao and Mayweather.

Think about it. And then praise GGG.
