It should have been, but it's too late if Gatti wins, which is likely. Gatti's people will avoid a Floyd rematch, unless there's some serious money involved. But given how one-sided the first fight was, I don't see it being that big of a draw now.

And I don't agree with ignoring the outcome of fights just because you think the loser is still a better fighter. That's not how boxing has historically worked and hopefully won't digress into that.

Floyd would be the favorite, of course, but Tony has a puncher's chance. It's a classic boxer v. puncher. What he's done in his last 3 fights is worthy of a shot at Floyd, esp the Cintron upset-massacre. Certainly better than Judah and Mitchell did going into their Floyd fights, right?

i dont think Margarito has done better tha Zab in the last 3 fights prior to mayweather. He was the undisputed welterweight champ, something margo has never been close to acheiving. But he has done more than mitchell, but mitchell got oppurtunity simply because he matched Zab style somewhat.

You're right that he won't. So Floyd will have to wait for Hatton, Cotto, Castillo, etc to beat Gatti and then fight that winner. In the meantime, he should fight Margarito. Gatti's people won't let him in with Margarito just like they won't let him in with Floyd. But they would let him fight some of the smaller guys. One real possibility is that Gatti retires as the welterweight champion. It's about retirement time for the guy anyway, and that would be a great way to go out. Then you'd have a belt scramble to start a new lineage, which would actually be kind of fun to see. Hatton, Floyd, Margarito, whoever wins the vacant WBC in a unification tourney. Just speculation, though.

That's what I kinda noticed...remember when he was supposed to fight Judah?...then Judah lost but still went ahead with the fight...-----critics shouted he should fight Baldomir...but then who wants to see Baldomir fight Mayweather? The Judah fight was very much anticipated until the loss.

Anyway Hatton is what I want Mayweather to fight....DLH would be second. But then I believe they both refused. Cotto is not ready.... Margarito would be next then Mosley, Wright...
but not Cintron or that guy defeated by Tszyu.

Margarito was'nt even popular before the talk of "Floyd is ducking him" started, I guess that made him a bit popular. You keep misreading all the info me and alot of other posters have typed. Mayweather has moved up to MARGARITO'S division. Margarito is champ there, to be the best of the division you have to beat the best in that division not fight hand picked oppenents then move up.

Floyd had no reason to duck Margarito up until he moved up to 147.All Margarito is saying is give me a shot to prove he can hang with the P4P fighters, with an 8 mill. dollar purse and a belt for Floyd it seems real,real ****** not to take an "EASY FIGHT". He is not fighting Delahoya this year, so what is the problem?

Again your not paying attention, this will be the biggest payday in Floyd's career.Margarito has offered to take 15% to 85% of the 8 MILLION dollar purse. All Margarito wants is good fights and to make a name for himself.Maybe that way he set up bigger fights down the line.
