Agreed. I rate him about a C in boxing ability with an A+ in power and killer instinct.

      D. He has a decent jab, excellent conditioning and a game changing straight right hand. Everything else is poor. His hooks, uppercuts, ring IQ are not good enough for the WBC champion and his power, plus a bad decision, is the only reason he still has the title.

No doubt in the street Deyonce is undefeated against 6 yr olds, impressive to the soft lads populating this forum...only in boxing!!!

          C.

He is not really a good combination puncher, and seems to have a psychological issue with throwing straight punchers. No Faints, No creativity but? he is very game/determinate and confident in his own destructiveness. No fighter inside of the ring, has broken his confidence in himself. 'And that is why even after dropping rounds to Fury, he still decked him twice and by the looks of it? Has struck fear into Tyson Fury'.

If you think he has no skills then compare his performance against a better version of Stiverne (fight 1) than Joyce faced. Stiverne hit Joyce right on the button twice in the first round alone. Joyce prevailed only because he has a great chin. Wilder prevailed because he can box better than he's generally given credit for when he needs to.

            That said, I gave him a "C".

Orthodox boxing fundamentals are a D. But his style is to stay at range against smaller opponents and use his range to jab and bang rights. Against the smaller guys his boxing style is fine. Even if his finishing is shocking. His size, reach and power just about makes things work for him.

It's against the longer reach fighters he'll get exposed. Providing they can box at better than a D standard. So I give him nothing more than a puncher's chance against Fury and Joshua. I think Breazeale is a live fight.

Yes it is. Im not a fan of Wilder but he's always in exciting fights. If he had great skills he would just be unbeatable at the moment. All his flaws makes him vulnerable. He gets outbox for most the fight and than BOOM.... good night

                  Boxing Skills D

                  Power A+

I'm not really a fan of his Skills Set or lack thereof rather. I typically lean towards The Boxer or Boxer Puncher. That being said in the Heavyweight Division...POWER MATTERS so he is able to get away with that Lack Of Skills and the Wildness for now

Yep no other division can a fighter competing at the elite level get away with having severe flaws in his skillset and mask it with devastating punching power. Lower divisions simply can't generate that kind of power to mask their flaws.

Heavyweight division truly is the creme of the crop in boxing.

Wilder obviously isn’t the most skilled , **** his trainer Mark Breland is even quoted in a Espn article about Wilder where Breland thinks Deontay has as much skill right now as Breland did when he was 10 years old.

Wilder started late and he’s 33 he isn’t about to change who he is, But Wilder got to where he is because he has the best equalizer in the sport and what he lacks in pure boxing skill he makes up for with his power, heart , raw freakish athleticism and self belief. That’s whats gotten him to where he’s at.And those attributes have worked for him real well so far.

Wilder is a example of Will overcoming Skill
