So... by the time he is worth Loma's attention he will be too big?

    How is that Loma's fault?

Loma should drop everything, drop his plans for achieving greatness, drop his plans to unify - to fight some 12 fight prospect... why? Because that prospect will be in a different weight class some day?

Why would Loma give a damn about what weight class some prospect ends up in? He wants to unify, he wants to take on champions.

Yes - Loma was able to get a title fight early in his pro career. There are several relevant factors:
    1) Loma is the most decorated and successful amateur ever. He had two Olympic golds, two world championship golds, a 396-1 record. Lopez had a very ordinary amateur record.
    2) Salido was an average champ with a string of losses. He didn't care who he fought. Loma is P4P #1. He cares a lot about who he fights.
    3) Loma was able to get an incredibly influencial promoter on board to back him, to shift whatever it took to make it happen. Lopez doesn't appear to have the same level of backing. Plus Loma was a lot older when he started his pro career - which means his promoter has to take more risks with fast tracking him.

I don't even get why we are having this discussion. You haven't provided a single reason why Loma would be interested. Lopez brings nothing to the table which Loma is after. No belts, no championship status, nothing.

The only thing you have brought to the table is a problem. Lopez's problem. His growing body, meaning he is going up in weight classes. That's it. That's all you have brought. A problem. Not a title, nothing to enhance Loma's legacy, nothing to help his attempts to become a legend. Nothing for him at all - except what would you call it - a charity request to help out Lopez because he is growing?

When you stop looking at this situation only as a Lopez fan, you would see that it makes no sense at all.

        That's not top 5 P4P to me.

        Good comparison with GGG agreed.

Man you got kids like Loma, bud fighting in their 3rd weight classes and beating up dudes, would Spence do this in a 3rd weight class Vs middleweights? Remains to be seen. You gotta be fair when it comes to P4P.

And bud is the best boxer on the planet, maybe with Loma, bud is sweet science sugar boxing, the only reason why Spence has a shot is because he's naturally bigger which is always an advantage for a stalker.

Bud can do it all, he's a master boxer IMO this dude has no limits.

I believe Spence on the other hand is limited, but dude is straight hitman at 147.

Yeah I rated Mikey P4P top 5, so high but on a 135 pounder basis

at 147... I don't even know if he'd top 5 in the division lol

        Ugas probably beat Mikey.

I wouldn't be surprised if Spence struggles to box Mikey but his size will prevail late.
Yeah I guess the pfp stuff just has a lot of variables. I tend to look at it more as how dominant a guy is at a certain weight compared to fighters at other weights, rather than a guy needing to move up in weight. That definitely shows me something too, but almost always a guy isn't as dominant at the next weight as he was at the prior one, so that always diminishes his standing as a pfp fighter a bit for me.

It's happened a bit to Loma, even though with his wins he is still pretty clear number 1. I don't really rate Mikey high but he is another example as he is now getting decisions instead of KOs as he moves up. If Crawford goes up and beats Porter and Thurman in impressive fashion in his next two fights, something like that, I would obviously raise his number a few. If he beats Spence or is even very close with him I would probably put him above Spence closely just because I view Crawford as the naturally smaller man.

Lol so idk man there is a lot of nuance I guess in determining that stuff for me. But yeah I think Crawford Spence is my top fight to see now since I view them as top 5 pfp and a lot of people are really split about who would win that one. I always look at amateur experience as a pretty good precursor to a guy being able to box and Spence has that (as well as Crawford). I may be partial to Spence because I first saw him box when he was at the Olympics in 2012 and I liked his style then.

But hopefully these good fights happen! Just the nature of boxing where the best guys never really fight each other when we want lol. I mean I get it, they have to have it make sense business wise. But it just sucks sometimes

As a boxing fan I would love to see it I just don't think we get that fight unfortunately.

Agree and I think he is best PFP fighter right now but he DOES NOT HAVE BODY to MOVE UP.Also his style with not being a huge puncher but most of all is his body and SHORT REACH.And cleaning out div and holding it is MUCH MORE impressive then moving up and cherry picking titles(which is all the rage). He also has a very short reach I seen someone on here saying he has "big frame could fight 147"are you nuts???This guy weighed about 136-7 fight nite when he was fightin at 130 and he is no kid no more growing.Did Hagler staying at 160 hurt his legacy?Would anyone be dumb enough to say he was not ATG?Some guys don't have body AND style to move up don't mean a DA MN THING.He has already lost a step at 35 he had no real problem making 26.This guy is a future ATG and I know I want to see him at his best.Floyd fought half of his career in his 4th div and every guy he fought had 10-20 pounds on him and a lot of people hold his less aggressive style against him.But the guy had bad hands and giving up so much weight(except Marquez)he had to fight more defensive.

Sure he has a chance, but let's see how he does versus a top 10 guy first before facing the top 1 dude of the division.

Fair enough. I mentioned earlier I don't really follow the little guys much so I am just going by the eye test with Lopez. Only little guy I really watch much is Loma when he fights

Lopez won't be at 135 "in a year or two!" He's already said they'll be at 140 in 2020! The fight needs to happen soon!

                      January 30, 2019:

"They have to decide whether he is going to fight at 135 or fight at 140. If he fights at 140, (a fight) against Jose Ramirez could be a major, major fight. If he stays at 135, then I'd like him to fight (Jose) Pedraza and if he's good with Pedraza, then fight Lomachenko. All in this year, or the beginning of next year."

The elder Lopez likes the idea.

"I want to show the world that my son can beat Lomachenko, and to do that, first (we have to) fight Pedraza," Lopez Sr. said. "So Pedraza is the next guy that I want. I want Pedraza in like June or July."

                      http://www.espn.com/boxing/story/_/i...akeover-begins

Pedraza already b*t*hed out! So make the fight! I think Loma vs. Lopez will be bigger than Crolla or Commey! This fight should happen in 2019!

                      December 11, 2018:

You may have heard that PapaFimo barked at Team Loma at the fighters’ hotel a couple days ago. Greg Leon had deets on Boxing Talk:

“I just told them how I feel. I told them that we’re going to steal the show again and we’re coming to take his head off soon. ... He ain’t nobody man, I don’t know why people praise this guy,” said Teofimo’s dad Teofimo Senior. “This guy is terrible and everybody saw it on Saturday when he looked terrible. This guy won’t last two rounds with my son and I’ll put all my money on that. He’s too fragile for my son, and we already that they’re not going to fight us because we’re going to end his career. Top Rank would love for him to do it because it would set him up as a $50M fighter. Top Rank doesn’t need this guy. He couldn’t even sell out a 5,000 seat arena. This guy is a fake and he’s always been a fake to me. We would have killed Pedraza in one round. We’re putting Lomachenko to sleep. He’s just too small. Loma is never going to be able to beat my son. If he fights this way with my son he might get knocked out seconds into the first round. My son is going to be the best boxer in history and he’s only 21 right now and I believe he only landed with like 50-60% of his power on that shot that finished Menard off.”

                      February 4, 2019:

By Aragon Garcia: Teofimo Lopez says he won’t be waiting for Vasyl Lomachenko to fight him beyond 2019, because he plans moving up to light welterweight [140 lbs] in 2020 to go after the world champions in that weight class. Lopez says he’s not an “opponent” type of fighter for guys like Lomachenko. Lopez (12-0, 10 KOs) says his goal isn’t to fight Lomachenko. It’s to win world titles, and Lomachenko happens to be the WBA/WBO 135 lb champion at the moment, which is why Lopez wants to fight him, but he’s not going to wait indefinitely.

Lopez’s not going to wait on a fight against WBA/WBO 135 lb champion Lomahcneko (12-1, 9 KO). If he doesn’t make the fight with him, Lopez says he’s going up to 140 to challenge the champions for all their titles. Lopez, 21, only wants the world champions...

“I’ve been at this weight for six years,” Lopez said about him fighting at lightweight [135 lbs]. “It’s not tough. It’s that I just have to be very, very disciplined. I only go up 10 or 12 pounds after camp, because if I go up too much, I know I’m not going to make 135 no more. 140? Everybody,” Lopez said when asked who he wants to fight at light welterweight when he eventually moves up in weight. “Put them in front of me, and I’ll beat them; world champions though. We are going to fight for world titles. That’s what our goal is. It doesn’t matter who it is. My goal isn’t to fight Lomachenko. My goal is fighting for the titles. So whoever has the world titles, that’s who I’m going for. I don’t have nothing against the man [Lomachenko]. Since he has the title, that’s who I have to fight,” Lopez said about Lomachenko.

Top Rank promotes the 30-year-old Lomachenko, but they can’t force him to take fights against certain guys if he and manager don’t want the match. At this stage, Lopez might be more trouble than he’s worth for Lomachenko. The Ukrainian fighter is starting to show his age in his last two fights against Jose Pedraza and Jorge Linares. Those were not easy fights for Lomachenko, and some believe that he’s starting to get old. It could be that or Lomachenko isn’t cut out to be a lightweight. If he moves back down to super featherweight, he could avoid guys like Teofimo Lopez and Mikey Garcia.
