Lol I hear ya John, and thanks for your comment. It is easy to get carried away on here sometimes and go off on tangents sometimes, I do it a lot. We are just passionate about boxing I think.
Yeah I definitely want to see that Spence Crawford fight. I mean they have to go at it soon, I can't possibly see how they can avoid each other for too much longer. Thurman too. Those 3 guys just have to mix it up I would imagine. I would pick Spence to win against all of them but it would certainly give us the best fighting the best at WW, and with Crawford and Spence two real top 5 pfp guys imo.
The only issue I sadly have now about the top guys fighting each other is we've gotten that in a few recent fights, and in most fights there is a pretty clear winner. But a lot of people who don't like that guy, or who are fans of the other guy, still don't give the real winner any credit when he wins. I feel like 95% of the time there is a clear winner in a fight (regardless of what the 'judges' say), and then 5% of the time it is a 7-5 either way, draw type of fight. The Hurd Lara fight comes to mind here.
When two men step into the ring I try to leave my personal bias at the door and let the fighters do the talking. And honestly it is pretty easy for me personally to do that. I just have too much respect for guys who get in the ring. I almost have no rooting interest anymore and I am just trying to see who the better man is on that night.
I just mention that stuff because as fans we are asking these guys to give us 'legacy' fights and the best fighting the best, and then sometimes when the better man wins on that night a lot of fans still give him no credit. It's almost like, why should they take on tough tests if they can win and people still hate on them, instead of just taking whatever money fight they can.
I know people can see things differently sometimes but again I just feel like if we are keeping it real then most fights have a clear winner, and then there are some close ones occasionally. Like if my guy didn't win I wouldn't even really care. I was probably rooting for Manny against Floyd but I thought Floyd won 8-4. Oh well what can you do, it happens.
I guess I am just disappointed that a lot of 'real' boxing fans on these sites are still so tribal with how they score fights. I understand rooting for guys that you like, but sometimes your guy wins, sometimes he loses. Just the way it goes. But some people on here just seem dedicated to hating on some fighters and blindly supporting other ones, no matter what they actually do.
