DAZN is the greatest idea to happen for boxing fans. Showtime R.I.P.

All part of the ebb and flow. And the cycles. And whatever else goes on in boxing.
A dominant platform can be one way of diminishing the power of the alphabet organisations.
But it would also reduce the investment in boxing. Why improve when you win through monopoly?
So we need a happy medium. Some of the benefits without losing all of the competitive tension.
Or prizefighting could become a legitimate sport... but I think we all know that won't happen.Comment

When the networks play politics and prevent fights from happening then they're a cancer to the sport along with the promoters and fighters hiding behind the networks and using that as an excuse to duck.Comment

IMO Showtimes best play would be to let DAZN go crazy and save their money while they do that. DAZN are going to need millions of subs per month to maintain their crazy spending. Then wait and see in 2-5 years where DAZN is at because they don't have the money (at least the boxing budget) that DAZN has.Comment

I don't think fighters went with networks to avoid tough opponents. They went there for the guaranteed money. That spells revenue for the sports dept of that network. This ''ducking'' stuff was built on how rival networks didn't want to split the proceeds of a particular fight.Comment

Not in the forseeable future. Haymon has more than 200 fighters.
That's more than enough to go around. That's why he is looking to expand by attempting to make a deal with DAZN like Deontay Wilder is.
While bringing some of his most underused and biggest and best talent on his roster in order to give them more time slots and dates.Comment
