Are you serious? Every single Golovkin fan uses this excuse then switch up when it becomes inconvenient. They thought Golovkin should've been rewarded for moving forward and missing almost a third of his power punches in the first Canelo fight. You people do this all the time when your fighters look foolish against "runners". Don't be an hypocrite.
Will people stop with the "take it from the champ" BS?

Most of you never boxed a day in your life so you don't get what it truly means,at it's soul boxing is about heart and will,it's not a video game, and if you wanna become a champion then you should beat the champion cleary, not by a little bit,not a draw or a close fight, how you do in a fight is completely on you and you shouldn't be rewarded for almost doing something,in most gyms the term is don't leave it in the hands of the judges, only losers wanna be granted a win when they know they truly didn'tComment

I agree with you. Always have. It's just an old saying. Nothing more. And yeah I used the phrase in the past but I see now it's totally wrong.
If you don't "take it from the champ" it's already considered in the rules. If the fight goes to a draw, the champ remains the champ.
Fights are decided on round by round.
If a round is close will you score it for the champ because he's the champ? no...
So what more do you want? the champ already has the nod.Comment

I've NEVER used that phrase and it has always been complete bs. Basically when someone uses that phrase, they are saying that the champ should get all close rounds on the scorecards and in every close fight, the champ should always win. It's an idiotic phrase that everyone started using to be followersComment

I have indeed boxed for a long time and boxing is scored round by round, the champions advantage is that if it goes to a draw, he keeps the belt. Most of you never boxed a day in your life so you don't get what it truly means,at it's soul boxing is about heart and will,it's not a video game, and if you wanna become a champion then you should beat the champion cleary, not by a little bit,not a draw or a close fight, how you do in a fight is completely on you and you shouldn't be rewarded for almost doing something,in most gyms the term is don't leave it in the hands of the judges, only losers wanna be granted a win when they know they truly didn't
Do you understand that not everyone is a knock out artist? Fighters like Tevin Farmer have like 5 stoppages, how do you expect him to ever win a championship fight if the close rounds go by default to the champ? It is simply not fairComment

No, but bias doesn't have to be conscious.

When you're watching a star, you naturally look for what they're doing. It's very hard to be completely objective. The narrative of the fight does matter. It shouldn't, but it does.
It's a pretty simple premise. If it's close you can lose a close one or draw - that's just a universal truth. That's true regardless of the levels of the fighters. Scoring isn't an exact science. If you're the B Side, then there'll always be a chance that if it's fine margins you need, then you may not get them.Comment
