In reality yes, but the law is tricky man. I don't the exact parameters of law enforcement from a cop's perspective, but I know in terms of private defense/self defense that proportionality has nothing to do with the weapons used but more do do with intentions.

Like for instance if you pull a knife on me and I pull out a gun and shoot you. That's legit in the eyes of the law.

Of you try and kill me with your bare hands and I pull out a knife and kill you or a gun and kill you. Still legit.

That's what am saying. I obviously, like you, do not agree with the cops actions, he could have handled the situation without killing her, and if he had to shoot, he could have gone for a large number of non lethal shots just to slow her down.

He didn't have to kill her, but in that situation, the law enables him to do so so really there is nothing a prosecutor or judge can do.
