Does he has a choice? Right now he is in the middle of a bidding war with DAZN and ESPN for the services of Deontay Wilder.
One has offered him a five fight fight deal plus a $12.5 mil deal for his next fight. While the other has offered him a $15mil deal for his next fight plus a two fight rematch clause deal with Anthony Joshua starting at a 60/40 percentage split in favor of AJ in America and a 50/50 percentage split in the U.K in favor of Wilder if he wins.
Remember that Haymon had platforms on both CBS and Fox when he started his new platform on ITV in the U.K. also. So Fox doesn't care that much about Wilder bolting; Just so long as Al Haymon fulfill his contractual obligations to them as promised in keeping up with the dates and times slots of the deal.
The only platform that may be hit the hardest by this is Showtime because Wilder was a Showtime's World championship boxing exclusive. So his presence will be sorely missed but Al still has enough fighters in order to fulfill that contract too.
Now whether or not Showtime decides to renew his contract due to Wilder's departure may be a different story altogether. However with Haymons' vast stable of fighters it won't be hard for him to find new platforms.
Lastly, Haymon would have been a damn fool to allow Wilder to go to DAZN alone with no compensation. He is a shrewd and savvy businessman and he is going to try to capitalize on this deal as much as possible.
You are right he didn't want too see Wilder leave but at the same time. It's a package deal. If DAZN wants Deontay Wilder's services then they must willing to negotiate with Al Haymon also for a deal of his own for the PBC.
Also, the names you've mentioned earlier may not all fight under the PBC banner but yet they are all still Al Haymon advised fighters. Khan, Collazo, Beterbiev, Alvarez, Jacobs and Vargas all have legal binding agreements with Haymon as he gets a cut of all their purses.
In closing, as far as Lou Dibella going over Haymon's head to broker this deal with DAZN is bullshit. Dibella just so happens to work for Al Haymon. He is one of his figure head promoters with a license. It was both of their ideas to meet with John Skipper because if not Lou Dibella ass would have got fired for undermining his boss.
