But I will say one thing for Toney - he has got huge cojones for taking this fight on. He deserves some mad respect for that (either that or he's just plain mad).

He doesn't want a replay of the Maskaev fight. With Rahman it's a mental thing, it's about his temperment. Rahman is not a balls to the wall take two to land one guy. It's not about him chosing to not fight like that because he has skill, it's that he can't do it. Doesn't have the nerve. Rahman likes to sit back, and as RWK has said many times, play chess.
and no one wants to give credit to toney for making rahman fight like that. rahman threw a straight right in i think the 2nd round, and caught a serious, flush right hand right on the chin from toney and from that point on he didnt want to throw another right hand for fear of what was coming in return. peter is not just going to walk through toneys punches, sure toney doesnt have the heaviest hands, but if you take a few flush right hands from any guy 230 pounds youre going to feel it, and it will make you think twice about throwing your power hand (again , see rahman). and peter is slower and more deliberate in his punches then rahman is.

There is no shadow of a doubt. He got balls that are made of steel
He took the second most dangerous opponent out there.

Samuel Peter's idea of a chess game is to turn the board over and splinter those little useless pieces beneath his feet. If Peter has the willpower and determination, this fight is his to win.

The way to beat Peter is to keep him moving, missing, and wasting his energy while countering with hard, well chosen, shots to keep his respect. Toney, at least at heavyweight, likes to play a countering game where he plants himself in harms way and takes advantage of any openings he sees. I don't feel like this is a good strategy for a former middleweight to use against one of the hardest hitting heavyweights I've seen on television in my lifetime.

You guys can pick Toney all you want for stylistic reasons, but Peter presents the attitude, fortitude, and physical strength to put Toney at serious risk. Come the night of this fight, you will see why it's best for a fighter to stick to his natural weightclass.

What some people never seem to understand, and it is a simple concept, is that a boxing match is not won by the most skilled combatant, but by the guy who can, through whatever means, impose his will on his opponent. Peter will do it through brute force and superior genes. This fight will not even be like two human beings fighting. It will look like a bear mauling some flabby tourist at Yellowstone.

              Complete mismatch.

9 times out of 10 when one fighter is going in with nothing but the hopes of scoring a KO in a boxing match, he loses.

Peter's a crude slow telegraphed puncher who's going to get exposed like he's David Tua.

You talk and talk and talk, and aren't willing to lay down any money.

                Typical.

some people dont use simple logic, like you in this case.

answer me this o great see'r o the future..

if robert hawkins can go the distance with sam peter without ever being in any serious trouble of being knocked out...

why wouldnt james toney, who is ten times the fighter hawkins is, not be able to make it the distance?

and then after toneys makes it the distance, what are the chances that he hasnt won at least 7 of the rounds??

i cannot wait to see the betting line on this fight.

enough people using achilles reasoning sam peter could open as the three to one favorite like he did against klitschko
