i think its a very real possibility that peter will **** toney up with a shot to the back of the head.

toney is shorter and loves to duck under punches, peter has shown that he cannot and will not throw a straight shot. his big overhand rights are bound to come down on the back/neck/head of toney in this fight.

will the referee deduct points? warn? possibly DQ Sam Peter? you never know... i would not be all that surprised to see toney KO'ed by a borderline illegal punch and then see the referee count him out without hesitating.

Peter is poorly conditioned himself and is horrible in the later rounds.

Peter will be gassed after 6 rounds and Toney will pick him apart on rout to a wide decision win.

Only way Peter wins is if he lands a lottery punch or Toney comes in above 250 himself.

If Toney's in the same shape he was for the Rahman fight or better he should win this fight easilly. It will look like a sparring session.

Yep, that is by far a very likely scenario, given Peter's love to land punches behind the ears.

I'm a big fan of Toney, but if he comes in overweight I want him to lose. He shows so little respect for conditioning and training. He portrays a horrible image for boxing. He really could have been one of the best middleweights of all time. Its just frustrating to see someone with all the talents and skills in the world fail to take something as simple as staying in shape seriously.

In poor shape vs Rahman he still threw 680 punches. That's several hundred above the Heavyweight average.

Peter cannot summon that kind of activity level.

In moderate shape, Toney threw alomst 1100 punches vs Guinn.

His punch output should be enough to give him a big edge.

id like to also point out that Duva is a ****in ******

here he is with a cash cow knockout machine like sam peter and what does he do??

makes the two worst possible matchups for his fighter in the two biggest fights of his career. not to mention he essentially tuned up for this toney fight against a guy more than a foot taller than james with nothing that resembles boxing ability.

i mean cmon, put peter in with anyone but toney or klitshko right now and he probably wins, there just isnt anyone else with the ring skill or physical strength to keep Sam Peter (at a decent weight) off of them for the entire fight.

The Wlad fight was a great move, and he was a combonation away from winning.

I don't think they figured he would have gassed as quickly as he did in that fight.

It was a smart move and I'm sure they'd jump at a rematch if it was available.

He was a punch or two away from breaking the glass.

Peter need not fear a counter punch by Toney. Toney couldn't hurt Michael Moorer, let alone Samuel Peter. This is not Wladimir Klitschko throwing punches back at him, this is a man who hit Hasim "The Chinless Wonder" Rahman with beautiful, holy **** I wish I had a Kodak with me, right hand counters all night long and still wasn't able to make him take a step back.

Some of you talk about Sam never throwing body punches but we've never seen Samuel Peter in the ring with a man as small as Toney. We're used to seeing him fight heavyweights who are generally his height or taller who can punch. We've never seen him in there with a five foot nine, blown up middleweight who has decent cruiserweight power at best.
Samuel Peter will fight completely differently when he is looking down at his opponent and is unafraid to open up.

Someone said that Duva is an idiot but really it's Toney who is foolish for taking a fight he can't win. He's going to get seriously hurt.

it wouldve been a great move if he won, i understand your logic but i disagree simply because he could have fought and beaten just about everyone else and moved on to more meaningful fights. yeah i know it was an eliminator, but in the heavyweight division peter wouldnt have had to wait long for another shot.

the loss to wlad set peter back a year, he obviously has lost some of his desire to train at a time when he needs it the most as he has gained weight in each appearnace since.

since the wlad loss peter has been very unimpressive, his stock has fallen in the eyes on many and his weaknesses have been obviously exposed.

pinpoint counterpunching will take apart even the guys with the sturdiest of chins, its not the power of toneys punch that hurts opponents. it is the timing and precision that many opponents dont expect and cannot prepare for. sam peter is no different, when he gets hit with shots he doesent see coming they will affect him, and they will back him off.
