oh I'm reaching by calling him the catch weight king? 6 of his last 10 fights have been at a catch weight (1 of them was a catch weight that had a half a pound clause) and 1 of the 4 fights that wasn't at a catch weight, he implemented a rehydration clause (vs fielding).

Later Golden Boys matchmaker, Robert Diaz stated, “It’s still an IBF rule. On unifications it’s up to the discretion of fighter. It’s the same day of the fight and they can weigh whatever they want after.”
        This will go ignored....

Nope. Fans get it wrong. An IBF defense or for a title means that org doesn’t allow more than 170lbs at 8:00 AM. of the fight. The body will continue to hydrate during the day along with proper meals.

Quit acting like it's all the same phagget. Lol

155lbs doesn't count as it wasn't used strategically like Floyd draining Canelo at 152lbs or Pacrat draining bigger guys to take away their strength, speed and endurance (Oscar, Cotto and Margarito to name a few).

155lbs (which is what you're crying about) was because Canelo had gotten too big, and simply couldn't lose anymore weight. It was not because his opponents would suffer physiologically.

            Hating ass biiiiooootch.

that was when he was fighting for the title, which he gave up the opportunity for by not adhering to the clause...in this case, he's the champion and would have to give up the belt. but this is bs anyway, cuz the ibf forgoes that rule for unification fights.

Diaz mush mouthed it as much as he possibly could. Add to that many of the posts in this thread are written by people who did not read beyond the headline.

Boxing fans don’t know that the essence of a catchweight is for fighters in different classes.

The only way Khan could even technically fight for Canelo’s WBC belt would be a minimum of 155. Unless of course Khan fans wanted it at 160 to be fair. Khan wanted the title shot. To say Canelo vs Khan wasn’t fair is ******ed. There are many fighters who don’t even fight an inch away from their class yet claim they can fight north or south of their “seasoned” pounds.

Kirkland, Lara, Angulo had more fights above 155 than Canelo. So by them fighting at 155 before, how is it even an issue?

It makes no sense why fans cry about 155. It was always justified.

that's usually when most fighters move up to the next weight class. instead canelo made a special weight class for himself.

Then he moved up to 168lbs and whooped a champion there...
