Floyd was 50 and 0 when he retired. I think you're forgetting that he beat The Big Show at Wrestlemania 24.
Does Mayweather deserve criticism for how relatively little he fought?

END THREADI don't think so. Canelo is the exception and not the rule. A career of 50 fights is a lot considering how many of his opponents were world champions when he fought them. Add up how many of Mayweather's opponents were champions WHEN he fought them and try to find another boxer who fought as many opponents who were champions WHEN he fought them. You won't find many.

No, I wouldn't hold that against him. 50 fights is a solid career. ATGs like Leonard and Spinks fought 40 and 32 fights respectively. It's about what you accomplished in those fights that really matters. I would criticize Floyd for not fighting one elite at their best, but not for only fighting 50 fights, that's ridiculous.Comment

Well, Mayweather's been the most successful boxer ever, but he's not the best ever, by any means. He ducked a prime Cotto, Margarito, Mosley, and Pacquiao. Floyd waited until all of them were way past their best before taking them on. Mayweather deserves credit for surviving the game for as long as he has, but he did not take on the best when he should've. He basically waited for everybody to destroy each other before swooping in and reaping the benefits. I believe all of those fighters, in their respective primes, would've beaten Mayweather.
He's smart, but, yeah, deserves some criticism.Comment
