Does Mayweather deserve criticism for how relatively little he fought?

Canelo Alavarez is only 28 but already has 54 fights to his name, Mayweather retired with 50 fights as a 40 year old.

If Mayweather had already accumulated 54 fights by 28, highly unlikely he'd have retired undefeated 12 years later.

yes! that and always fighting guys who were past their best. he faked retired in 2008 to avoid margarito cotto and mosley who all fought and took out each other. the best excuses always!

Canelo had 40 fights by 2011 fighting bums.

      Not difficult to do that.

Yeah, Sugar Ray Leonard must suck then with his measly 40 fights. It's all about quantity anyways right?

Does Canelo deserve criticism for having 5 losses removed from his record before he came to America? Canelo has a draw against a cab driver who was 3-5 lmao. Don’t compare him to Floyd

He had 50 fights. he fought more often than most of these current fighters.

              Wait.

I thought Canelo was "too green" when Floyd schooled him.

Now its "Floyd didn't have as many fights as Canelo"?

Hard to find quality haters nowadays.

I don't think so. Canelo is the exception and not the rule. A career of 50 fights is a lot considering how many of his opponents were world champions when he fought them. Add up how many of Mayweather's opponents were champions WHEN he fought them and try to find another boxer who fought as many opponents who were champions WHEN he fought them. You won't find many.

Lol Canelo had 50 fights by the time he was 23. He was fighting nobodies in Mexico. It's about quality not quantity. That said Canelo is and has been fighting top quality opponents for years now and hopefully it continues.

                    Floyd retired with 49 fights...not 50.
