Comments Thread For: Eubank Sr. is "Petrified" That His Son Might Lose To DeGale

Chris Eubank Sr. cast doubt on whether his son can defeat James DeGale this weekend just two days before the British super middleweight rivals collide at the O2 Arena. DeGale and Chris Eubank Jr traded several barbs at Thursday's heated press conference, regularly talking over one another.

Lol... I got my money on Eubank.. Degale's shoulder will fall to pieces quicker than George's did vs Eubank.. Eubank might get the stoppage win against chunky campbell soup.. lol.

Degale is actually the best matchup for Jr stylistically. His strength is fighting on the inside like Eubank and JD's defense isn't good enough to win by boxing from a distance against Eubank.

Degale won't simply outclass him like Groves did. Degale will have an edge, but because Eubank is the fresher of the 2, it will be a toss up and I lean slightly toward CB because of it.

Turning to address Eubank Jr, DeGale said: “You’re a deluded moron, you’re pathetic and on Saturday night I can’t wait to deal with you. “It’s all dawned on him, the retirement fight is here. He’s finished, it’s his last fight, I promise you that. He’s going to get a schooling. “I’m proven. I’ve been there, I’ve done that, I’ve won everything. You are an idiot, you’ve won nothing and I’m going to beat and retire you.”

Not really a DeGale fan, however I hope he is right and this is the end of Eubank Jr. Not sure he can pull it off though.

            Genuinely intriguing fight.

I believe Eubank Jr has already shown his ceiling but James has had a really tough career.

Respect to Degale regardless. I hope he wins tbh.

But, knees knackered, bad shoulder, seems to take a lot of shots no matter who he is in there with now.

Regardless DeGale needs to retire imo.

Eubank will still be youngish and have name value in Britain. Tbh, I think we already know he can’t be a world champion. He’s a good athlete and he can fight but he doesn’t have much boxing acumen and the final straw is that he is sort of marooned between weight classes. He’s a bit small for 168 and clearly he mustn’t fancy making 160.

Depends on which Eubank shows up. Both fights he lost, he ended up fighting tentative. If he does that against DeGale, he's losing a decision and we'll see more of this from Senior:

Degeale will get stopped. He is a shot fighter. I know I said the same thing about groves fought Eubank and I was wrong but I feel certain about this.

I must say after watching Senior and listening to him, being a father myself and all... I can't get why people are so interested in retiring this kid... Even the smack talk. Talk about winning but you really want to retire the guy?

Its sad for Eubanks senior because he sees that his kid has talent. I also see a baseline for junior...He isn't the learning type exactly. His dad said it really well when he said he was trying to give his boy the benefit of his experience but that sometimes his boy did not want to take it and would prefer to learn the hard way.

But the kid can fight, maybe not at the highest level, but he can ****.

I think DeGale has a shot. For all of Eubank Jr's athleticism, he can't box to save his life. This could end up being interesting if DeGale is motivated, unless Eubank has had some dramatic improvement.
