He should not have lost to Porter, Porter is defensively unrefined as displayed by Thurman and Garcia landing on him freely.
He damn sure should not have lost to Mikey AT 140 of all weights. Mikey is just busy, there's no special effects, and he didn't do anything overly special against Broner. Broner was tentative because he was avoiding knockdowns.
He DAMN sure should not have gone to a draw against Jessie Vargas. Vargas is a come forward warrior with limited power and Broner should have been pasting him at will off check hooks and counter straights. Vargas is nowhere near as fast or accurate as Broner.
But the worst offender - The WORST offender - Manny Pacquiao. And that might sound strange but here's the thing.
We have three blueprints for Manny: catch him with a knockout (Marquez), which takes near perfect timing; keep him at range (Floyd) which takes patience and a solid jab, or just take Manny's range (and thus his power) away and bully him (Horn).
Broner is larger than Manny but has no power. That means the Marquez strategy was never going to work. But that's the strategy he went in there with. WHY??? The ONE strategy doomed to fail and you pick that one? When the other two would have worked way better for him, especially the bully strategy. It was like watching Ricky Hatton without the knockdowns/knockout.
No, Broner's not going to "learn" or get any better by now. Whatever happened to his head after the Maidana loss is stuck to him and forever will be.
