Why doesn't Arum just feed Lopez to Loma?

Lopez is ready enough. Who is he gonna steamroll through to get "ready" for Loma from now to the beginning of 2020? How many more stay busy fights is Loma going to fight before 2020? I think it's clearly a case of Arum letting the fight marinate, getting Lopez more TV exposure, so this fight becomes a PPV.

I think it's a hard fight for Loma NOW, but Loma wins... But this would be a big win for Loma and would make a future match-up with Davis or Garcia more intriguing. Davis less so, imo... as Davis is smaller and a win over Lopez will probably have people thinking Loma will do the same thing to Davis, but easier.

If Loma is able to outclass a guy with the size, speed, and power of Lopez, it makes a potential matchup with a big guy like Mikey Garcia more interesting, who doesn't have the same speed of Lopez.

As I see it now, the ONLY intriguing fights for Loma right now are Davis, Lopez, and Garcia.

Why not? It would be interesting to see if Lopez took the fight and then all the people hyping the fight NOW will discount the win for Loma AFTER.

Is Arum just letting the fight marinate? Is he afraid Lopez might derail Loma? If Lopez loses to Loma, no big deal, he'll still go on to have a good career, but if Loma loses to Lopez it seriously damages his invincible image.

It would be a great fight though. Lopez is very quick and explosive with power in both hands and he would the naturally bigger fighter. If Loma is as good as everyone thinks he is, he should press for this fight.
Why should Loma press to fight a guy who only looks great fighting nobodies? Lopez's best win was his last fight and that guy was ranked 61st by boxrec and not ranked by anyone else. His 2nd best win was a guy ranked 240th by boxrec and not ranked by anyone else. Let Lopez beat a legit top 10 contender and actually earn a fight with Loma instead of giving him a title shot for looking so great against weak opponents. I'll pick Loma the proven champion to beat Lopez the good looking but unproven prospect.

That sounds reasonable. Lopez does need more experience. Maybe by 2020 he will have defeated a contender or two and be ready for Loma and have earned his shot. Right now it's a poor fight because other proven lightweights deserve a Loma fight ahead of Lopez. With champions fighting only twice a year these days they should be fighting top contenders and not prospects with no wins over anybody good.

If Lopez fights Pedraza this year he's going to dominate him and stop him pretty easy. Lopez is a problem RIGHT now and by early next year he should get this fight. Arum wouldn't be "feeding"Lopez to Lomachenko. That would be a real fight, and one I think Lopez would overwhelm Lomachenko in the later rounds and possibly stop him. Would be a great passing of the guard type of fight and Lopez would be well on his way to being a stat and potentially a superstar.

ARUM is in the buisness of building stars to maintain his spot in the sport. They wont fight IMO. I think Lopez goes to 140 soon enough and fights guys like Prograis and ramirez in the future. Maybe even Crawford 2-3 years down the road.

Should the fight happen, yes. Will it, No imo.

Lopez is too young to be feed to the best fighter in the game. This is what makes boxing so frustrating. Fights should happen regardless of where you are in your career. If you are the two best in the division, fing fight!

I'd luv to see the fight, but Arum would be dumb to do that. Arum will not screw him over like Mayweather was going to do with Tank.

And Lopez knows he won't be feed to Loma, so he knows he can talk crap and not worry about it.

Loma on a different level than everyone now.

Because it would be ******. Lopez is 21. Loma's just turned 30. They can each take a year or two build up Lopez.

Why? Because Arum is not dumb? That fight right now is not big at all, Lopez will become a star and really popular, also he needs to fight some top 10-20 opponents first and gain some experience.

Give him a couple more fights and Lopez keeps improving and looking amazing, and by the end of next year this fight would be massive.

Well crolla has proven himself far more than Lopez so far...but really crolla is the type of opponent that Lopez should be facing in the next few fights. Berchelt or tank would be better fights for loma at this point. Arum isn’t gonna put Lopez in with loma yet and who tf can blame him. Too bad the Garcia fight couldn’t have been made...that was THE fight. Instead we’re getting a waste of a fight in him vs Spence.
