I won’t have Lopez beating any top rated fighter “handily” until I see him in with one. He’s faced nothing but lacklustre or made to order opposition. He looks really good, but those type of opponents are in there to make him look good. Personally, I’d like to see Lopez prove he’s ready before getting thrown in with loma.
Why doesn't Arum just feed Lopez to Loma?

Mikey will never come back to 135. Davis is pretty skilled and defensively more sound than Lopez. Both beat Loma, IMO.Lopez is ready enough. Who is he gonna steamroll through to get "ready" for Loma from now to the beginning of 2020? How many more stay busy fights is Loma going to fight before 2020? I think it's clearly a case of Arum letting the fight marinate, getting Lopez more TV exposure, so this fight becomes a PPV.
I think it's a hard fight for Loma NOW, but Loma wins... But this would be a big win for Loma and would make a future match-up with Davis or Garcia more intriguing. Davis less so, imo... as Davis is smaller and a win over Lopez will probably have people thinking Loma will do the same thing to Davis, but easier.
If Loma is able to outclass a guy with the size, speed, and power of Lopez, it makes a potential matchup with a big guy like Mikey Garcia more interesting, who doesn't have the same speed of Lopez.
As I see it now, the ONLY intriguing fights for Loma right now are Davis, Lopez, and Garcia.Comment

Please answer me directly: After Loma, who's better than Lopez right now at 135? Say nothing about rankings and corrupt shit. Just your opinion. Name names. (Commey is nothing based on what I saw last. Lopez may not need even 4 rounds for him.)I won’t have Lopez beating any top rated fighter “handily” until I see him in with one. Commey lost to Robert Easter. That's a tough pill for me to swallow. I don't care if he got robbed or not. If you're about anything Robert Easter shouldn't be a struggle for you.Comment

agreed..thats why i dont see it happening until late 2020 at the earliest....but even then i think lopez may outgrow 135...and to be honest....im not trying to bag loma...but i dont think theyll fight anyone above 135 that they think they might have a chance to lose to.....I won’t have Lopez beating any top rated fighter “handily” until I see him in with one. but i agree...you need to see lopez in with someone who isnt completely overmatched before you can really judge....for crying out loud we saw loma have a hard time with someone like salido....and loma is a top p4p guy(i dont buy the 2nd fight stuff...loma knew exactly what he was getting into and felt comfortable with the situation)....the pro game is tricky and weve seen many hyped prospects fall victim to a good veteranComment

Fuck Boxing. Its own fans have a lot of excuses why fights shouldn't happen. I'm done with this shitty thread. A lot of weaklings talking nonsense. Make the fucking fights.
Keep sucking Lomachenko.Comment

I can’t say how good Lopez is cuz he hasn’t proved it against anyone yet. Like I said he looks fast, explosive, athletic etc, but how many times have we seen unproven prospects who pass the “eye test”, look ordinary as soon as they step up?Comment

I also doubt loma move much higher than 135 if at all, outside maybe some type of unification near the end of his career. A showdown with tank in the next couple years is far more likely than Lopez.agreed..thats why i dont see it happening until late 2020 at the earliest....but even then i think lopez may outgrow 135...and to be honest....im not trying to bag loma...but i dont think theyll fight anyone above 135 that they think they might have a chance to lose to.....

As far as loma vs salido(I actually thought loma slightly edged it), there were a few factors that more pro experienced would have helped with. First, how to deal with guys who fight on the edge of the rules and more importantly, how to pace himself for a tough 12 round fight. Loma was not active enough early to mid fight. He fought as tho he wasn’t sure what he’d have going down the stretch and we all saw he had a lot left. He coulda stepped on it a couple rounds earlier and possibly stopped salido. That fight was good experience for him either way...with far more than fighting 10 set ups.Comment

Then who are the best at 135, in your opinion, after Lomachenko? Would you pick Lopez to lose against them?Last edited by BoxingIsGreat; 02-16-2019, 09:58 PM.Comment
