Comments Thread For: DAZN's Skipper: Joshua Has Star Potential Of LeBron & Ronaldo

John Skipper has Tweeted all of nine times since joining that social media platform in October. In other words, the executive chairman of DAZN Group only takes to Twitter when he really wants to stress something. Now that DAZN has announced the Anthony Joshua-Jarrell Miller heavyweight title fight for June 1 at Madison Square Garden, Joshua's star power is that something for Skipper this week.

The guy is marketing dream. Always easier to stand out when you are in an individual sport as well.

Joshua is definitely more marketable than Wilder or Fury.

Says who? Of course DAZN says so. They’ve invested heavy in him. But who is Joshua besides denying a fading Klitschko whom Fury dethroned?

Well obviously they would invest heavy in him if they see the potential there?

That’s all fine and dandy but in comparisons to lebron. Lebron global outreach is where it is because of not only his skill, but how he presents himself, the fact that he answers all difficult questions coming from 10 reporters a day, the amount of contribution his does for his neighborhood and the amount of work he does as a humanitarian.

Lebron also doesn’t have someone who speaks for him. Rich Paul and Maverick Carter aren’t doing 5-6 interviews a day about lebron the way Hearn is doing about Joshua. When Lebron is faced with the stage of failure or obstacles, he’s asked on the spot about it. Joshua has to liberty of having Hearn speak for him. No one really knows him as a person to relate to make his stardom the way lebron has. He’s also not willing to face the difficult questions as consistent as lebron. He was given the biggest offer of his career and went quiet for a month as Hearn ordered him to.

Not to mention when you look at other standout fighters who became cross over superstars, they spoke for themselves more often. Floyd (manny is more of an enigma bc he had Floyd) SRL DLH and etc. even Canelo has shown a bit more of a personality in putting himself out there compared to Joshua. Till Joshua tells Hearn to stfu and not show himself off so much it’s not gonna gravitate people to him the way lebron does.

DAZN is investing in Matchroom Boxing, and AJ is obviously part of that package, and that's specifically DAZN UK region.

Are DAZN USA subscribers blocked Matchroom Boxing fights? Of course not. Therefore it's practical to make crackhead statements like Skipper.

How many Americans envy Ronaldo? Lebron? Lebron and the rest of All Star American athletes have the HIGHER probability to promote Wilder over Joshua. Is Skipper this dumb that American star athletes are naive to not root their own American nor know the concept of rooting for team?

Tweets from American Athletes help bring the American Heavyweight scene back to its roots, not for Joshua.

Canelo vs Jacobs brings how many subs in May? Don't you guys think Hearn and Skipper will exploit Canelo's numbers to say that ever since they announced AJ vs Miller, that subs have increased?

Joshua puts in loads of work with the media. Trust me you will see it more now he is fighting in the US.

He also is constantly on chat shows and doing photoshoots and what not. The guy has basically not been out of the media over here since he broke into the mainstream.

You are an American boxing fan so obviously you hear more from Hearn than you see Joshua on a prime time UK chat show. But he is doing that stuff.

No doubt he will be on US TV building up his fight with Miller in the coming months. Actually he already has been last year
