Matchroom should be loving this news. If AJ were to beat Ortiz, it gives them more leverage to play with negotiations. It wouldn't matter if Wilder already KO'd Ortiz, a win is a win for AJ even if it also went 12 rounds.

The Truth is, when AJ sees Ortiz across the ring before the bell, it is by FACT that he's looking at a difficult Southpaw with BAD INTENTIONS. What are the Southpaws that AJ has fought whom are as risky as Ortiz?

Let's be honest here. Ortiz is a high reward for Joshua, EASILY over Miller, but at the same time VERY VERY risky for Matchroom.

Ortiz is the biggest hype job in boxiing. Miller at least beat Duhaupas. Miller still better fight.

They are both hype jobs, nowhere near Whyte level.

        elite: AJ, Fury, Wilder

        B: Povetkin, Parker, Whyte

C1: Pulev Kownacki, Breazeale, Ruiz jr.

        C2: Ortiz, Miller

D: Hammer, Takam, Duhaupas, Helenius, Kabayel, Chisora..

The real fans know this is a better fight than Miller, but can't imagine we'll see it unless the Miller fight falls through. AJ v Miller gives Hearn a chance to keep one of his own fighters happy and Miller will do a far better job of building the fight among the casuals than Ortiz is likely to be able to as a non-English speaker. Let's not forget t's the casuals who bring the cash.

Hearn has control over Miller, and he really needs Joshua's US debut to be an unqualified success. If the numbers are poor it's gonna look bad for him and AJ. Hearn and AJ will be happy to have a viable fight as leverage though, otherwise Miller could have really held them to ransom on the split

Yes its incredibly dubious We Be crooks didn't suspend him we agree there, shame on the WBC , Saunders nasal spray looks far less su****ious he could have argued the same thing but the WBO shut him down only the WBC lets this stuff fly.

Ortiz was sent a two fight deal to fight AJ, one fight opponent of his choice on the Pulev card and then a title shot he turned it down for the Wilder fight (his manager confirmed this in an interview). Joshua had to fight the IBF challenger first or be stripped.

I don't buy this Ortiz can't get a fight argument , Wilder used it years ago claiming Ortiz and Washington for instance would never fight him so he had to defend against bums, he tried to fight that Polish guy no one had ever heard of instead (fight fell through in the end).

Ortiz could easily get a top 50 opponent sure its hard to get a top 10 opponent when you have no money, fans and no one outside America and Cuba rates you but America has plenty of top 50 guys available just ask Miller. Why didn't he fight a top 50 guy straight away, Parker went straight in against Whyte .... why is he choosing to fight only twice.

I watched Ortiz I watched Hearn say he was the greatest and build him up then I watched him box and he looked old and tired and then gave up trying. Go watch those fights who would be scared of that.
With a name like Dougal Dylan I wouldn’t be surprised you’re a UK casual that would pay to watch AJ shadowbox for 12 rounds with oil being sprayed on him between rounds!

It has been confirmed that there was no proof that he masked for PED’s!

They did 2 investigations, one handled by the WBC and the other by their CBP you ignoramus!

I just looked up and ONLY the WBA wiped Ortiz off the rankings while the IBF didn’t!

It’s interesting since Ortiz was mandatory and closer to fighting AJ with the WBA than the IBF but yet only the WBA made sure to clear him out of AJ’s way! Hmmm...

And ffs with this crap about AJ had to fight Takam or he’d be stripped, he could’ve easily paid Takam with step aside money until he fights Ortiz!

Plenty fighters have done this it’s just that AJ did the opposite cuz he knew Ortiz is the real deal and didn’t want that tough match up where he could lose compared to Takam who was given a few weeks notice to train and is much smaller and less of a threat!

You AJ fan boys are just as bad as ggg fanboys before the Canelo fights!

I hope Miller and AJ double KO themselves cuz AJ is a primadonna who acts like he beat prime ATG’s while dominating the division for a decade but then acts like a coward when it’s time to fight real threats and Miller has the worst resume outta the top contenders and is trash talking his way to a title shot while avoiding Ortiz, Wilder, Usyk and Joe Joyce!

Garbage fight that suckers like you will continue to pay for, fans like you are the reason AJ still pulls this charade!

Ortiz and Whyte are very overrated boxers. If Miller is also overrated and deserved the fight for all the belts we shall see soon.

Miller pushes his punches, Ortiz has more power. Miller has better footwork, early, he's younger, but AJ is young too. I like to think the old man can hit AJ and do damage better than Miller can do to out hussle AJ.

Ortiz is Joe Joyce level. Actually, if Joyce beats Stiverne, he is better.

                    ‘Ortiz 39’ LOL

Anyway it’s not going to happen, Ortiz has no fans that pay gate money and DAZN isn’t available in Cuba so pretty much no incentive to fight him for Hearn.

And no, I don’t see it as any kind of necessity to fight him because Ortiz hasn’t proved anything, has been highly hyped with zero reward and once AJ easily disposes of him everyone will just say he took another low quality opponent.

Ortiz needs to get his managers to work their magic and get him in the top rankings for a shot at one of AJ’s belts!

I looked at the rankings and it’s weird that a considerable top 5 or top 10 heavyweight isn’t even in the top 10 rankings for none of AJ’s belts except for the WBA and he’s barely there at #11!

I also would like Ortiz to put pressure on his promoter to find a way to get the money so his team can start making offers cuz these dudes talk but truly don’t want the smoke!

Whyte , Joshua and Usyk have all called out Ortiz but then didn’t offer him a deal or gave him a low ball offer!

It sucks but Ortiz is still a high risk and low reward fighter, even more so due to him not being undefeated any longer!
