I understand what you're saying, but fear can have one of two effects fight or flight. You can't say with 100% certainty that Kovalev will go down the "flight" path. Not calling out a guy that's retired and hasn't stepped in the ring since summer 2017 doesn't really mean much at least to me. Don't get me wrong, Ward is the real deal, but to me he's at the level of a Bernard Hopkins so not an all time great of some one in a generation phenom.

he marked himself as special when he walked to the ring to face Kessler..... he drew the hot favorite and divisional kingpin when he was not much more than a rookie..... I don't think I have ever seen anyone look so calm relaxed and confident heading into a sudden death career-defining matchup like that, than Ward did during his ringwalk

Also the only reason Ward had any 'success' as a fighter is because he was from the USA so he had a promotional angle. As he proved in his fights, he is no better of a boxer than Sakio Bika or Miranda or Barrera, and that is when you allow him to get away with all the dirty stuff. He is the most over-rated boxer I have ever seen, bar none. Just the way it is bro.

GGG and his resume are great whether you admit it to yourself or not. 17 good to great fighters, all different styles, all relatively in their prime and fighting well, and all clear wins. A really impressive resume for anyone who is not completely biased.
