    There was a lot of envy when Pacquaio was in his prime from a lot of the folks who worship Mayweather and far less accomplished and talented fighters like Ward or Wilder especially who are held as some type of deity. There were tons of excuses for Fury-Wilder too from the count to the scores to Fury’s failed out of competition tests years back etc;

    Boxing fans suck. It’s not limited to one or two fighters fan bases. Nearly every single modern fighter who’s popular their fan base sucks.
    ward is a legit deity whether you want to admit it or not....wilder not so much...but at least wilder is trying...ortiz and fury 1-2 is a good stretch...better than any stretch AJ has put together by a long shot

    i dont think floyd fans were every legit envious of pac...just sick of pac fans running around talking about hed "murder" floyd..kinda like how golovkin fans talked about canelo...and the same group swore kovalev was going to do ward.....pac fans ran around forums talking so much crap on floyd it wasnt even funny....and then manny legit ducked out of the fight(well i dont think he did but we all know bob didnt want it)....and weird excuses flew about needles...temp stadiums and whatever else

    its weird cause i was a legit fan of both manny and floyd...actually saw manny fight twice(hatton and cotto)..and even though i was more of a floyd fan i never saw him live....but it was the way that pacs fans acted that soured me a bit on him....even though i still gave him the respect...it was always them that seemed to be antagonizing the floyd crowd from what i saw

      Why aren't you focusing on the endless excuses as to why Wilder DREW with Fury despite 99% of the world seeing Wilder as losing.

      Now that is pathetic.

      Each fan will take it differently but I have said so many times that we will see which tribe will stand by their fighter after a loss.

      99% percent of the world loves to argue with expertise.

          I liked Floyd at one point having followed him since before he beat Chicanito (until around 2004/2005) and never liked Pacquaio. I didn’t care about their fight but if anything hoped Floyd would win but I find both fan bases awful. I give the edge to Floyd fans as being the worst of the bunch but it’s the two most rabid fan bases I’ve ever encountered online.

          I’m not that willing to give Wilder a ton of credit for Fury because like most (nearly all) i felt Fury got jobbed and that fight hurt Wilder’s reputation quite a bit. Fury was the Fury of 2015. Maybe he’s one step closer now as he sheds more weight and gets more rounds behind him. Fury wasn’t given a chance first time though.

          Ward was a good fighter. An ugly fighter but his career he accomplished good stuff but he’s not a fighter for the ages. Very few have been in recent years and he’s not one of them. When I think of tue defining fighters of the last 20 years or so it’s Jones, Pacquaio, Mayweather, Marquez, Hopkins, Morales, Barrera, Calzaghe, Trinidad, Lewis etc; Id put Ward more in the level of Wladimir, Mosley, Wright, Chocolatito etc;bas examples.

            The outcry from that robbery was weird. Half of Wilder’s fanboys claimed robbery, long count, Fury cheating etc; the others that knew he lost and just said “it was close enough to steal from Fury” just deflected and made it a Joshua thing.

            I personally hope Joshua and Wilder never fight. Both fanbases are a joke and they don’t deserve it. I think Fury beats Wilder again though so maybe the clamor goes away anyway?
            The AJ and Wilder fanboys are some of the worst I’ve ever seen.

              Yeah, the internet has obviously provided modern fighters with the most visibly insane fans. In my internet days the most rabid and craziest fan bases have been the following (in rough order the top 3 being firm) :-

              Mayweather
              Pacquaio
              Tyson
              Canelo
              Wilder
              Joshua
              Golovkin
              Jones
              Trinidad

              I was (still am) a big Tito fan but even at age 15/16 I could see they were nuts. Jones fans were nuts back then but Tyson fans were the most insane always. I think it reached new levels with Mayweather and Pacquaio fans though the Wilder and Joshua fans and GGG & Canelo fans are trying their hardest. Can you imagine how bad Ali fans were at the time? Yikes. Probably insisting he was robbed vs. Frazier and Norton, had him as a shut out winner vs. Norton in fight III etc;

              This new sensation of promoter fanboys is bizarre though. Definitely got some potential to crack the list.

                  I honestly dont see it like that, to me Joshua is slowly filling the Floyd role, people hate on him in a serious way, especially a portion of American fans, him and Hearn. There are ****** fans for every fighter as far as I can remember, this feels deeper than that.

                  I think it has a lot to do with the fact that historically America has had the most marketable fighter and the biggest promoters, etc. Their competitiveness, ego and the fact that they are normally the shot callers leads to this mentality. Certain fans on here don't appreciate that being under threat even though Top Rank are still the biggest (I think?) and that competitive spirit actually goes as deep as getting competitive about promoters now...I see underlying hate on Hearn and DAZN constantly in here, where in reality he is a much lesser evil than some of the old promoters, like Arum and Warren who truly shafted fighters for years by offering up flat fees to their own fighters, the business is more transparent now because of people like Hearn, Haymon, etc.

                  As far as the subject matter...There are always excuses by fans...But there are a lot of rational posters in the middle. Let's be honest, AJ is not a fighter that's gonna stay undefeated through his career, he's not nearly polished enough, it's inevitable he loses but I'm personally enjoying the journey and will continue to do so

                    AJ broke his arm a month before he started his camp, but he didn't tell anybody because he hates excuses.

                    His opponent put a curse on him.

                    His opponent was smothered in baby oil.

                    The ref is a racist.

                    He couldn't let his punches go full force, because he is scared of his own power and didn't want to kill his opponent.

                    The pressure got to him.

                    The scales were off at the weigh in, he was 3 lbs lighter than he thought he was.

                      i dont think ward is a fighter for the ages...but hes a generational great...and i think he belongs in the the group that you feel he should be excluded from...but thats just a difference in opinion

                      you dont want to give wilder credit for the fury fight? because fury got jobbed in your opinion? that doesnt matter...het ook and made the fight when everyone said he had no interesting options and should bow to AJ....and it did well..and wilder looked about what we though he would...he didnt box well...got outboxed mostly...but still put his guy down twice and once with a near highlight reel knockout(still a highlight reel KD nevertheless).....bottom line is if he rematches fury next that ortiz, fury, fury....still better than anything stretch AJ has seen

                      think about floyd for a second though....floyd flat out said he wouldnt fight at 160 ever...said "everyone has limits and i know mine...i wont go that high".......yet all of golovkins fans wanted him to fight golovkin...granted they were hoping for 154....but they still wanted a WW in there with a career MW...just to see floyd lose and put a notch on golovkins career resume...yet golovkin wouldnt bow to probably the 2nd biggest name in boxing canelo for 154...and wouldnt even budge on 154 for cotto.......and golovkins fans called floyd a wuss and a coward and every name under the sun......yet when golovkin ducked ward it was ok because it was just ok lol
