Curt you're cool and all but AJ's best win (Klitschko) is better than Wilder's best win (Ortiz.....?).
steroids or corrupt judging when AJ loses? or both?!?

There's no difference on these forums between Pacquiao and Mayweather fans, GGG and Canelo fans (although the Canelo fans are much more reasonable than the guys who like him just recently because they hate GGG), or the Wilder and Joshua fans.
For each of those fighters there's a spectrum. On one end is the super fans who obsessively defend them, on the other end is the detractors who obsessively discredit them. Guys in the middle either don't care, or are capable criticizing/giving credit in equal measure depending on the circumstance.
What's crazy is the guys on either end of the spectrum who are always at each-other's throats, are basically the same. There's no real difference in what they are doing. None of them are always right, or wrong.
As for excuses, when AJ loses I don't think he will hide behind an excuse, I don't see that in him.
His fans? Maybe they will go for posting the knockdowns next to a timer and claiming it as a slow count. Or accusing the ref of giving too much recovery time. Those seem to be popular choices at the minute.Comment

The main reason I find them so bad, is guys like Floyd, Pac, Mike, Roy, Tito, Oscar, Canelo etc are all clearly exceptional fighters, so as annoying as it is, I can sort of understand the fanfare. AJ and Wilder clearly aren’t, and neither have done anything all that impressive IMO.Yeah, the internet has obviously provided modern fighters with the most visibly insane fans. In my internet days the most rabid and craziest fan bases have been the following (in rough order the top 3 being firm) :-
Mayweather
Pacquaio
Tyson
Canelo
Wilder
Joshua
Golovkin
Jones
Trinidad
I was (still am) a big Tito fan but even at age 15/16 I could see they were nuts. Jones fans were nuts back then but Tyson fans were the most insane always. I think it reached new levels with Mayweather and Pacquaio fans though the Wilder and Joshua fans and GGG & Canelo fans are trying their hardest. Can you imagine how bad Ali fans were at the time? Yikes. Probably insisting he was robbed vs. Frazier and Norton, had him as a shut out winner vs. Norton in fight III etc;
This new sensation of promoter fanboys is bizarre though. Definitely got some potential to crack the list.
I really want to see AJ-Wilder but it’s starting to grow stale on me, I’m just sick of all the BS around it tbh.Comment

Yeah, that's a good point but I do find the Mayweather and Pacquaio one's to be more fans of the fighter than the sport. Pacquaio fans are obsessed with their idol and Mayweather fans are even worse. The main reason I find them so bad, is guys like Floyd, Pac, Mike, Roy, Tito, Oscar, Canelo etc are all clearly exceptional fighters, so as annoying as it is, I can sort of understand the fanfare. I generally find them to be the most miserable of fans and I think at least 90% of them appear to dislike the sport and hate on the most fighters. At best they are casuals watching the sport because of him and the sport and it's history revolves around him like they made Chocolatito fights about Floyd because they linked him to GGG who they linked to Canelo who they link to him. Sick huh?
They hate on old fighters they've never heard of or seen or read about and totally dismiss them and have this weird obsession of linking things to Pacquaio, "Oh you're a GGG/Loma/here. fan you just a salty Pacquaio fan. They hate when somebody just is a fan of a fighter that's not PBC and the PBC fandom is because of their obsession with him and hatred for anything non PBC (especially Top Rank). They even hated HBO and acted like they never broadcast a good fight. Like I said they think the sport was invented in 1996 and is basically done now but are sticking around because somehow Canelo and PBC represents Floyd and everyone else represents Pacquaio. It's a team game to them. I'm the biggest Marquez fan on here and have been since the 90's, gone to tons of his fights live, been invited to hang with him before his fights, his home etc (all during his career and before he was an icon); and I STILL get Mayweather fans calling me a salty Pacquaio fan if I say "I think Pacquaio was good", or criticize or don't ********** to Floyd. LOL, I guarantee I'm more of a real fan of Marquez than any Floyd fan here. Sure, they WORSHIP Floyd more and are more obsessive but aren't real fans that buy a ticket, go to the fights etc; Floyd has a big ego but I bet he'd be terrified of a few posters here who are fanboys of his.
I'm not saying all. I'm saying 90/95% of them. Believe me. I read my boxing history, watch my old fights (probably around 400+ books or so and over 6k fights) and Mayweather fans are most often the least knowledgeable so they often just say "Oh he ******" rather than actually talk intelligently.
Pacquaio fans are awful and hateful too but I think at least 20/30% are real boxing fans who respect the sport and majority of boxers. I've never had a problem with them all the times I've met them at the fights in person and even had them admit their boy lost vs. Marquez in fight II & III.Comment

Looking at this thread it appears aj has the same effect on peopleFloyd made so many people jealous and insecure. The garbage threads and posts were over the top ridiculous. Day in and day out his stranglehold on the top spot on the p4p list and his ability to make huge events really pissed off his detractors. But us doing the same thing now that he is retired accomplishes nothing.what I am realizing is no matter how much you may disagree with a particular fan or fan base, they need to be allowed to be fans.
We need to be bigger people and let fans of other fighters celebrate whatever successes those fighters have. Yes, much of it will be over the top ridiculous, but hey thats what fans are supposed to do. There is nothing wrong with celebrating mediocre accomplishments or elevating the guy they like.
All fans have a right to feel like their fighter is the best of the era even if it is a bit delusional.Comment

One thing I will say is that these type of fanatics are always obsessively following the fighter who's been ducked and victimized and obsessively hating the other fighter who's always ducking and sucks. Isn't it amazing how you can have 4-5 favorites are they are all flawless and they are such a great fan to have this insight and wisdom and ability to select god-like favorites yet the 4-5 guys they hate are awful humans, who cheat, suck at boxing and are cowards and they have the amazing ability to select these guys to hate?
It's why I say Boxing fans are the worst BY FAR in all sports. BY FAR. Now, when I talk boxing history and stuff of yesteryear I find great, intelligent and mature insights from genuine fight fans that make you proud of boxing fans, the same when you go to the actual fights but current scene online fans suck balls something awful.Comment

Dude no offense but you do the EXACT same thing you are complaining about in this post. Yes, you make solid posts with great insight in some cases. Historical fights are different from current events so it makes sense that the conversation has a a different tone. NO issue with you there.Well said.

That said when you discuss a boxer you like you fail to hold them to the same standard you hold other guys. Worse, you will justify what your favorites do yet kill anyone that does the same for the guy they like. Then there are the stereotypical judgements you make when guys you like are criticized and when called on it you talk about the "internet" and never give real proof.
When you point the finger at boxing fans, remember you are a boxing fan too.Comment

The Floyd/TMT fanboys are unbearable. Some idiot tried to start a “TBE” and “money May” chant at Canelo-GGG 2 and got completely shut down😂😂 I don’t even class those type of guys as boxing fans tbh, they’re fans of Floyd’s lifestyle not his fighting style. I don’t like Floyd as a person whatsoever but he’s the best fighter I’ve had the pleasure of watching live and he’s deservedly undefeated IMO. I wish he’d just stay retired and enjoy his life instead of constantly seeking attention.Yeah, that's a good point but I do find the Mayweather and Pacquaio one's to be more fans of the fighter than the sport. Pacquiao fanboys come across quite bitter. I’m a big Pacquiao fan, I’ve rooted for him in almost every one of his fights apart from Hatton and Marquez 4 but I’ll also admit he should have at least 2 losses to JMM, clearly lost to Floyd who is simply a superior fighter, and as much as it hurts he also lost to Horn IMO. I actually want Manny to retire I don’t wanna see him lose to guys he’d have destroyed in his prime. His legacy is set in stone, nothing left to prove.
You’re right as well, the majority of these fanboys don’t go to shows or even have a massive interest in the sport outside of the fighter they’re enamoured with.
You get it in all sports though, look at the Messi/Ronaldo fanboys who’ll argue they are the greatest footballers of all time and hate on all the past era’s. Or the LeBron fanboys who claim he’s surpassed Jordan and hate on NBA in the 80’s and 90’s just because that was Jordan’s era.Comment

I remember a fan at Marquez-Pacquaio III who sums up the vast majority of the TMT/TBE fan base which are like you said, mostly not boxing fans. The Floyd/TMT fanboys are unbearable. He had a Mayweather hat and cheap printed t-shirt like the one's those guys sell for $5 on the bridge from MGM to NY/NY and he was near the lobby and he was screaming "Mar-Keyz was robbed", "Mar-keyz was robbed" and I am feeling pretty down about the decision so I start talking to him and the man has actual tears in his eyes I kid you not. A grown man crying and it get's better. I said "I scored it 9-3 my friends at home said Marquez by by 3 or 4 rounds I spoke to Al Bernstein and some others who said it was a robbery..How did you have it?" and he said "Oh. I didn't see it but Mar-keyz was robbed". He had shown up at the hotel to just hang around "supporting Mayweather" rather than just find a place to watch it or heaven forbid buy a ticket.
Like you I've encountered and since these type of TMT fanboys at fights and it's just utterly bizarre. They do indeed get shot down quickly but what a weird thing to do with yourself. It was like when Marquez KO'd Pacquaio, I saw far too many Mayweather fans trying to take shine off Marquez and make it all about their man who they are obsessed with but not genuine enough fans to attend the bouts. I guess they are scared they'd get rejected by him for creeping him out too much and that would break their hearts?
They are boxer fans not boxing fans.Comment
