Comments Thread For: Jaime Munguia Continues To Gain Momentum For Bigger Things

By Corey Erdman - Jaime Munguia's victory over Takeshi Inoue on Saturday night in Houston was precisely the kind of fight that would have resulted in an upset loss for a lesser fighter. In Inoue, he found a challenger built like an Olympic weightlifter, with the motor of a middle distance runner and the punching technique of a discus thrower, unable or unwilling to be hurt or ever take a step backwards. The kind of fighter that forces his opponent to be "on" every single second of the bout...

Munguia is the 2nd biggest Mexican draw in the game today considering he’s less than 2yrs removed from anyone knowing his name that’s quite a feat. The kid is the definition of Mexican style just keeps coming fwd the Mexican people love that just ask GGG. Anyway, as time passes his defense and skill level will definitely improve as of right now he’s winning on pure talent goes to show how big of an upside Munguia truly has.

How is he the second biggest draw? Did you see how many empty seats there were at the Toyota center?
        Embarrassing

Munguia is ready for exposure. Meaning that one day he's going to be exposed as a second coming of Brandon Rios.

Munguia is fast becoming a household name, but he's far from being a world class fighter. He will lose to many of the top 154-160lbers at this point in his career.

I wouldn't say Munguia's winning on Pure talent right now . I'd say his Size advantage is a Huge factor . But the kid is funner to watch than a blonde lady singing on Whittier Blvd.

All critiquing aside, I think maybe the best thing about him so far is that his fights are fun and entertaining to watch which, maybe it's just me but, is one of the main things I'm hoping to get out of a fight Im watching.

I dunno, that smaller Japanese fighter was backing up Munguia all night long

How will it improve if he keeps doing the same things? He isn't changing his style or using any defensive techniques.

Take Hurd for instance, in his last fight we saw him try to fight off the back foot because he realizes that he takes too many shots. Muniga isn't adding any wrinkles to his game
