To be fair to Ward...they haden't really done anything. Also, why would he rematch Froch when he beat him by a very very wide margin? Floyd in the latter stage of his career definitely cherry picked..but Ward is one of the few guys that you can't really call a Cherry Picker. He was in essence forced to move up and fight Kovalev by HBO. The guy fought a tournament, and fought tough competition for majority of his career. Him and Timothy Bradley are about the only guys of the last dying era to consistently be in tough fights. With the edge going to Bradley.

Ward was THE man at his division. The Obvious best fighter in his division, the only other fighters that can claim that today was Rigo, Inoue, Lomachenko Crawford at 140, and USYK. Every other division has questions.

Calzaghe beat everyone who was available and wanted to fight him. How can u be an undefeated champ for that long and be a fraud?

Hopkins sort of ducked him around 2002 or 2003 when he was negotiating a three fight deal with Showtime. I think it was to include Hakaar, Simon and then Calzaghe for $6m (if I remember correctly) and after Showtime gave into his demands, Hopkins still pulled out and stayed on ice. Calzaghe-Jones was never really on the radar. Calzaghe was a 168 beltholder with no cache outside of the U.K, Jones was pound for pound (whilst also not working with Michelskwki to become lineal or undisputed).

Calzaghe-Johnson should have happened though and I guess that's on Calzaghe but even still, Johnson went life and death with Clinton Woods going 1-1-1, I doubt he'd have been a match for Calzaghe. Calzaghe then beat a guy nobody online seemed to think he could beat (Lacy), then added the other belts in a legit 50/50 undisputed unification unification (Kessler) with no controversy and then beat a still capable Hopkins handily. He had Hopkins wanting to quit/trying to cheat point deductions.

Calzaghe remains very underrated and unappreciated to this day. The folks that cream themselves over the "0", don't give Calzaghe any credit despite beating guys they said he wouldn't and reigning so for so long and picking up all the belts. He's a great fighter. Perhaps not a top 50 or 75 but I think he'd have to be strongly considered for top 100 ever and that's a great accolade.

It's generally accepted by 90% of boxing fans that Calzaghe was a fraud. He's not a top 50 all time fighter because of it.

He wasn't terrible, he had great footwork and angles, but his resume is jut not very good.

yes joe was world class, just never elite. Not a nice man outside the ring either with his drug and wife abuse.

But RIP Enzo, a solid trainer, without his dad he would have been another unrecognised titleholder only, to this day.

I always found it odd the amount of inactive posters and lurkers who come out of the woodwork just to slander the ATG Joe Calzaghe. He's been gone 10 years and his great acheivements will live forever in the Hall of Fame. Let it go already damn.

theres no ATG called joe calzaghe, 4 legit defences dont make you atg!

hes HoF (backdoor Hof) but same time its bad that people say this world level boxer was ducking lots of others. Not really,..why do I know this for a fact? well because he had a worthless title for almost his entire reign so there was no need to duck anyone since noone wanted it.

Joe only had the real titles for a very short period of time, maybe a few weeks at most, so in that short time again its impossible to be ducking lots of people.

The guy who made this thread didnt think it thru.
