A reminder. Canelo Alvarez has always challenged himself throughout his career.

no they weren't. they were washed up and ortiz wasn't even in his division. like i said they were big names and thats all. names that would get boxing fans talking before and after beating them but they werent good fighters at that timeComment

when did he pass on that fight? you mean the offer that was contingent on ggg signing a multi fight deal and preemptively postponing the canelo fight? yeah i wonder why he passed on that derp! ask yourself why ward needed more tune ups and wasn't prepared to fight? he had just fought paul smith and wasn't ready wtf what bollocks. ask yourself if ward knew ggg was mandatory to the wbc and yethe still wanted to make ggg postpone that fight? ridiculous publicity stunt to spin and nothing more. if he wanted to fight ggg he would have offered to fight him right then right now ya know how all fights are done. not to complicate it with some multi fight plan when he knew ggg would not agree to that due to his standing and future fights. Not only that but he made concessions to get those fights done. He accepted a lowball under 10M payday vs Floyd despite his large fanbase and the fight doing massive numbers. Took high risk low reward fights against Trout and Lara. Gave Cotto the larger split and GGG a co-A side split in the rematch despite being the main draw in both.
To put things into perspective, GGG passed on a legacy defining fight with Ward when he was claiming he was being avoided, passed on Lara because his team didn't like his style and claimed he wasn't a draw (even though he wasn't much of a draw himself). Had rejected a then career high 15M guarantee against Canelo in early negotiations when his best win was Lemieux, was ready to price himself out of a huge payday for the rematch but GB salvaged it in the last hour, and let another huge payday for the rubber match pass him by.
when did he pass on lara? you can't just make things up. where were the lara offers that were passed on? yes there was a laughable ward offer that was already debunked as publicity stunt and nothing more but where are hte lara offers? how do you pass on something that doenst exist? did you pass on seeing black panther 2? it doesnt exist so you passed on it! did he go out of his way to try and fight lara? no he didnt and why would he? lara wasn't in his division and wasn't a draw unlike a guy like brook who brought him millions. and ggg was selling out madison square garden and getting the best ratings on hbo but ok he wasn't a big draw either sure. lara was the one asking for millions so do your research.
15 million was unconfirmed. first it was 10 then it was 15 so which was it? and if he had you as his sorry ass promoter he would have lost out on millions so thank you for not going into the boxing business. i'm getting the impression you eat up all the headlines that they put out without really comprehending them. your confirmation bias seems to override your critical thinking. ooo he turned down 15 million i guess he's ducking! oh he made more than that hmmm well he was still ducking!!!
its not a rubber match and they chose to fight jacobs. you are really eating up their headlines. it was mid january and they signed to fight jacobs for a fight in may. if they wanted ggg who doesnt even have a tv network deal they would have ya know tried to negotiate with him instead of signing to fight someone else instantly. oh he didnt accept our first offer lets sign to fight jacobs so we can say ggg didn't want it! and its off to the presses! hes ducking hes ducking hes ducking! what was the offer even? did you even try to negotiate longer than a day? ducking ducking ducking JUST LIKE THE WARD AND LARA FIGHTS!!!! DERPPP DERP DERP I KNEW IT. CONFIRMATION BIAS FULFILLED don't you feel great now?

My point is that it does not matter if you were K.Od brutally one tiene.
Why am I having to explain to a so called boxing fan it isn't just about the name but when you beat them? Funny how you still haven't refuted what I actually said about Canelo, you know, the guy who this thread is about. Stop talking to me about other fools and address what I actually said. If not, kick rocks.Comment

What a book of excuses ...when did he pass on that fight? you mean the offer that was contingent on ggg signing a multi fight deal and preemptively postponing the canelo fight? yeah i wonder why he passed on that derp! ask yourself why ward needed more tune ups and wasn't prepared to fight? he had just fought paul smith and wasn't ready wtf what bollocks. ask yourself if ward knew ggg was mandatory to the wbc and yethe still wanted to make ggg postpone that fight? ridiculous publicity stunt to spin and nothing more. if he wanted to fight ggg he would have offered to fight him right then right now ya know how all fights are done. not to complicate it with some multi fight plan when he knew ggg would not agree to that due to his standing and future fights.

Thats a fact
GGG has a shi.t of resume
Only fought with two good fighters
Canelo and Jacobs
And in one división
And he ducked WardComment

no thats not a fact thats the opposite of a fact.. if you are a tribalist with a high propensity for confirmation bias you are going to believe he ducked ward or something silly. if you look at wards offer you would see it was a joke. just explain to me wards offer and how or why ggg should have accepted it instead of being uninformed and just saying HE DUCKED!!! you do realize the wbc was ordering the fight in november of 2015 and ward wanted to fight in 2016 so yeah that offer was never going to be accepted. you are taking your eye off the ball. why did ward offer him a multi fight deal and not a one fight deal? why did ward need more tune ups when he had just fought paul smith? please answer with something logical instead of HE DUCKED WARD crap that is easily debunked. you can't because you don't know what you are talking about. you want to believe he ducked ward so you believe anything you hear without doing any research or using critical thinking. i know this is boxing but dont be a tribalist.Last edited by daggum; 01-26-2019, 04:33 AM.Comment

ward and GGG were in different divisions, there was no need for each to duck the other, categorically. Neither even tried to have a warmup fight in the others division.Comment

Not to mention GGG passed up on the Catchweights - that's his own faultComment
