A nice attempt to start an intelligent, adult debate on the subject, Smokin'.

More objective discussion on this much-discussed match-up is needed. Sadly, it's once again dragged down by people who only know how to throw insults around, not genuine DEBATE. A shame.

      lol
this tune ups mthing is getting very very old , hatton as clearly stated numerous times that he would take the mayweather fight at the drop of a hat , so if the fights gonna be as easy as everybody thinks why aint floyd crying out for the hatton fight next? cause deep down he knows this aint no gatti. the boys got far more skill than gatti and at times is like a robot programmed to walk forward and punch **** outta what stands in front of him. mayweather wont last long fighting against hatton with that style.
and also hattons **** is firmly in my mouth ***** but beleive it or not im also a big mayweather fan

lol, do we have to bust out the links of hatton teams quoting that they'd like 2-3 more fights in the U.S. before facing floyd?

also did you just say hatton would fight floyd at the drop of a hat? rofl... that's why as soon as mayweather put hatton on his list of people he wants to fight... hatton immediately said that he wasn't looking to fight floyd in 2006, and decides to make a title defense against URKAL.

        owned.

There's doubts about both of them remaining undefeated, also. If Mayweather actually fights a guy not trying to rebound from a loss, and Hatton fights guys like Castillo and Cotto, then the fight may not happen. Of course, if Hatton loses, then he'll fit the criteria for a Mayweather opponent and then maybe we'll have a fight.

Hatton will win on the inside against Floyd, and Floyd will win on the outside. It's that simple. Floyd has the larger frame and reach, and Hatton shorter and more compact. It's just where the fight will be fought that will determine it. Mayweather allowed himself to get caught against the ropes against Judah, but I don't think he'll do that against Hatton. Hatton is going to have to cut off the ring and keep pressuring Floyd without getting cut and swoll up. It's a tough task for Hatton, but it's possible. It's all about how well Hatton fits into 147. If he can have the kind of strength, movement and relentlessness that he had at 140, then we've got a serious fight on our hands. If Hatton can't grow into 147 as naturally as Mayweather, which is what it looks like at the moment with that very sluggish and bloated performance against Collazo, then he'll lose a UD. Simple as that. Hatton is at a disadvantage because he has the frame for 140, not 147.

Does he let you rub suntan lotion on them?

You are a complete and total closet ****sexual.

BTW, I just watched Ricky get pushed around by the stronger Collazo. Luis friggin' Collazo. After the fight, Hatton stated that he needs to get stronger at that weight.

Speaking for myself, I think the Collazo fight being Ricky's first venture at 147 has a lot to do with it. Personally I wasen't disapointed with Hatton, but I think a lot of people were. Everyone knew Collazo was no pushover and would be a very tough matchup for Hatton, but a lot of people were still suprised by the result.

Add to that the recent Ring magazine article which wasen't too impressed with Ricky and that leaves a lot of people thinking Ricky will struggle at 147, especially against a P4P champ like Floyd.

This doesn't take into account the fact that Mayweather is smaller than Collazo and probably would wear down quicker from a constant barrage from Hatton. However, we have to remember that Mayweather is a better boxer than Collazo and probably could hit Hatton more often without being hit.

I don't know if I've ever seen a boxer more effective at pushing on the inside than Ricky. Maybe Duran on a good night.
I'm not a big boxing historian so I can't attest to whether or not he is the strongest ever, but I'll agree certainly is one of the stronger fighters I've seen at that weight class. He's just constant energy, agression and basically just tries to smother his opponents. He can really punish guys on the inside. (Both legally and illegally )

Now we've only seen him once at 147 and despite Collazo being a big guy, I just didn't think Ricky looked as strong. He wasen't able to outmuscle him. Granted Collazo was a big, smooth southpaw and Floyd probably would tire out before Collazo did if he got hit as much.

Mayweather's going to be struggling and in deep waters when he fights Hatton.
It would definetly be interesting to see how he could punish Mayweather on the inside or if Mayweather would be able to simply avoid him and stay on the outside. Mayweather is so smart though that I doubt he would get into a rough/tough inside contest with Hatton.

Nice to see some interesting views brought to the discussion.

the buisiness mind of the camp has said they need a few fights for the venture with mayweather to happen (that been ray hatton) solely to make more money and to make sure ricky dont get screwed in the purse BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ricky hatton and billy graham have always insisted that they have the perfect gameplan and the skills to beat floyd ****ing mayweather
so please dont come here acting as if ricky has ever said he needs tune-ups when he clearly has never said it at all
