Why do boxers mostly not rotate their feet when punching?

    World fastest baseball pitch.

He does it with the foot non static, but even the non static foot throws and punches they seem to lead with the hip and not the foot.

I guess it doesn't make a significant enough difference, maybe that's why its not mentioned. I suppose you can get most of the benefit while keeping the foot static and so that's why it isn't mentioned?

A foot that doesn't move. In boxing and other sports they teach to use the hips by rotating the foot (put the cigarette out) but many pro boxers do not rotate the foot they just use the hips without moving the foot at all, it stays completely still or almost completely still even on an all out punch.

[QUOTE=AlexKid;19390891]No ones looking at your feet how does it disguise anything? Even if they could see the feet and weren't concentrating on the shoulders etc the feet and hips move almost simultaneously ie very very close together in time.[/

If you look directly at the guys sternum you will see everything that you need to see, including his feet. Just sayin'...…...Rockin'

that twist of the foot is what they do to teach teh amatuers that the power comes from the feets, its hella unnatural and literally no-one keeps it as they learn how to push off their ball of their feet in their own way and trainers dont expect them to keep that over dramtic twist that actually kills your power.

you have to grab the floor and push off not twist your foot lmfao.

The foot will rotate because of the movement of the hips. Not the other way around...Rockin'

depends on the punch that's true for the straight right which uses a lot of leg drive but not true for a right hook, many pros don't use leg drive on the left hook , it is used on uppercuts, it isn't on power jabs that use the hips, etc

secondly you get more power from the leg muscles if the feet are pointing in the right direction, the muscle fibres of the leg are in better alignment like when you run

also how is turning the foot in an exaggerated way going to kill power? We just saw some record holders do it.

True and false, the hips move the foot around but also some much weaker muscles in the leg rotate the foot before the hip and they/ the foot triggers the hip into action.

I knew that already that's what I was mentioning with leg drive, but perhaps the extra rooting helps with the linear leg drive and so that's what its about thanks!

Yea so that is probably the answer, the extra friction helps more with the linear force!

Also you do twist with the foot as well, the twisting turns into linear force as the leg comes around, and also you can punch just by rotating without any leg drive , just by shifting weight.

Lastly twisting the foot and pushing off the floor can happen together.

You are right rocking my point was a bit pedantic but the core and important part of it is exactly what you explained.
