This is that dumb shet that will spill over into 2019 from you james. Jermell lost his fight but Jermall won his.

My thinking is that it's a misunderstanding that may pretty much have become truth through popular belief.

Regardless, there is nothing in the rules of boxing that indicates that a championship bout should be scored any different to any other fight or that the Champ should be granted any advantage other than that of the ruling that of retaining in the event of a draw (which kinda implies that the challenger is required to do that bit more).

Hard to say, though. If enough judges believe that the adage means that the challenger needs to go over and above a normal victory then that is how they will score, so which is the real 'truth'?
You're 100% correct! I just think that you have be spectacular win on the defense! Sweet Pea, SRL, Camacho, Floyd, Lara, and Fury come to mind! Lara and Fury only got a draw! Harrison was not all that!

Ha, well 'spectacular' is kinda subjective ain't it? For me all you need to do is land more (and more telling) shots on your opponent than they land on you, and the style, the strategy and tactics employed to achieve that are largely irrelevant as long as that end is accomplished.

Individual cases I ain't gonna get into but let's just say I agree with some, but not all of your assessments!

I have to admit, I called the fight a robbery then I went back and watched it. I had it even the second time.

Jeff beat Manny & Toney beat Jermell.
