Originally posted by Loque-san View PostJermell's agression was largely inneffective. He got hit a lot and was being beaten to the punch. He looked tentative even when he had Harrison against the ropes, and was throwing wild punches or even throwing being out of range. He had his moments but they were few and far between. A mediocre performance overall.
Harrison did nothing special but was much more consistent with his work. He dominated the fight with his jab and landed the cleaner punches throughout the fight. He fought cautiously but still got the better of many, if not most, exchanges. He came with a smart gameplan and stuck to it the whole fight.
I scored it 115-113 and when the fight was over I had no doubt about the winner. Harrison was better than Charlo that night. These judges should be commended.

Originally posted by HarvardBlue View PostTeddy Atlas has no credibility here. My eyes tells me Jermell won the fight, but he didn't look spectacular doing it. Believe it or not, it's almost like the first Pacquiao/Bradley fight. Pacquiao didn't look like his old self and the judges dinged him for it. Because Pacquiao was the more popular fighter, the outrage was far greater. Pacquiao won that fight but didn't look great and suffered the consequences. Jermell to a lesser extent didnt look good against an opponent that fought better than expected. Although, Harrison has shown that he can box but always fall short because of his poor stamina in big fights. The judges gave Harrison the benefit of the win but I can't say he necessarily deserved it.

Lol! the good ol' days!
Regardless, there is nothing in the rules of boxing that indicates that a championship bout should be scored any different to any other fight or that the Champ should be granted any advantage other than that of the ruling that of retaining in the event of a draw (which kinda implies that the challenger is required to do that bit more).
Hard to say, though. If enough judges believe that the adage means that the challenger needs to go over and above a normal victory then that is how they will score, so which is the real 'truth'?

I don’t mean that as a Teddy fan (which I am) I mean that in all honesty. You can’t be taken serious on these forums if you imply Teddy is biased because that’s just plain bull****. Teddy is notorious for picking the non club fighterbin fights and sticking up for them while yelling in the mic.

I’m a little surprised that there are so many people saying Harrison won. I think that is because people hate the charlo boys. If charlo won would there be people posting it was a robbery? I seriously doubt it. I think most are just riding the wave cause it came in for Harrison. As as teddy goes well the man is banned for life from ever calling a fight on espn, so what does that tell you.
