I think that's the best average PBC has done on FOX.
PBC on FOX delivers knockout ratings

This is great. So it basically outperformed every UFC on FOX card this year, at a much better value for FOX.
Consider the following.......the promotion has just started in December, they're doing PBC Face to Face and PBC Countdown shows for both the Plant/Uzcategui fight and the Thurman fight next month, plus non stop replays of the shows.
So if people thought the promo for the Charlo fight was a lot....look out, it's going to be double that each month, a set of countdown, face to face, and inside pbc shows for each FOX and FS1 card for the next 4x years....with non stop replays. Might even be too much boxing programming for hardcores!
Since these fighters are new to casuals, the ratings are only going to increase.
2019 is going to be big for boxing.Comment

Some of these other places today are reporting 1.69 M viewers for the average, I don't know what their source is. Are they falsely reporting the overnight as the final? If so that's some lazy journalism! ESPN has it up on there site as well as a post by Rafael.Comment

So the 1.69M are just the overnight numbers and are not official. Not only that, they didn't include the third hour of the telecast which was the main event. So it was skewed from the start. The actual numbers do not get released until Wednesday or Thursday. So I'm not sure why Rafael or anyone posted the 1.69M unless they mentioned that these are the overnight numbers.
#PBConFOX averaged 1.971m viewers.

A couple of weeks ago I saw people saying the main event should start before the other fights because they main event lost viewers from the lead in fights. It was the Loma-Pedraza fight.Comment

That's a totally different situation. That was said because they got a good built in audience from the Heisman Trophy presentation. That card actually peaked before the main event. That is very very rare but happens on cards when the numbers are skewed from what took place before the actual event.
Remember the Spence/Bundu fight after Gold Medal basketball game? It was a one fight card, and the fight peaked at over 6 million, but the average was only 4.8 million. I say "only" just to make a point, but that's still a great number obviously. But the built in audience certainly contributed to that high number. If that was a two fight card, the main event (Spence/Bundu) would have gotten worse numbers than the first fight.
So I do think it makes sense to go with the main event first if there is already a great built in audience. Strike when the iron is hot. The longer the show goes, the more those folks will turn the channel.Comment
