How far back does your interest in boxing history go?

How far back do you really care about the sport? Do you like to watch old films and read about old fighters or are you the type that thinks boxing started when you started watching?

I remember the night at the Olympic Auditorium that Johnny Featherman busted up a young Richard Steele with bodyshots.

I 100% appreciate the sport & have seen or tried to brush up on everything connected to boxing from the roots until I was able to see them myself until NOW.

Not gonna lie doe...The Rocky Movies had ALOT to do with my initial interest as a kid.

The "When I started watching" option is clearly in the lead around NSB, despite how people voted(liars!).

I personally enjoy reading about the early 20th century the most. 1900-1930 would probably be my favorite era to read, whereas my favorite era to re-watch would be more like 1940s-early 1970s.

It's disappointing how many fans care so little about anything that happened before Ali. This sport has the greatest history and probably the most documented. I try to keep a pace up of between 20-30 books a year.

Indeed. You can spot the noobs a mile off that start talking legacy as soon as a fighter has one fight or like saying Canelo is an ATG and things of that ilk. The bar is a lot lower today and the fanbase is a lot dumber yet they act like they know more but only care about current. Mcdonalds said Canelo is an ATG and he tried to tell me Jose Napoles was some average "40's fighter" LOL.

I love the rich history, I love how it's a sport where I can just randomly discover a fighter that I had no idea existed from almost any point and read about them, watch them...hell, even now. I had no idea who Emanuel Navarrete was, and as a Dogbae fan I had been looking forward to a fight that truly surprised me. I can't think of any other sport where that can happen.
