DAZN might actually be hurting Canelo's marketability.

The point of having Canelo on DAZN is for his fans to find out about this "unknown" app and then it won't be "unknown" anymore. It will take a while before taking off, word of mouth is the biggest draw. Netflix didn't become what it is in a few months.

That's why i think DAZN are trying to get Canelo v GGG to fight in May, to really get people aware of DAZN.

It's still by far the biggest fight for Canelo. Nobody cares about Jacobs, Andrade etc.. That's why GBP and GGG promotions have booked the T-Mobile Arena for May.

DAZN are not just handing over $300m to Canelo without hitting targets and proving to be worth it by the numbers of people signing up. There will be all sorts of stipulations in these contracts, it's just as black and white as fighting anybody you want and numbers don't matter, but still earning that amount.

Canelo's contract and that figure will be to make a "potential" however much it was. I bet his actually guarantee is smaller (but still a good amount), with an upside to hit that advertised amount, but they omit that from press releases and make it sound the best it can be.

Anyone that thinks otherwise are naive about business.

I still haven’t purchased DAZN. Canelo vs some unknown bum that has a fake title belt isn’t going to make me buy it. Now if we get to May and canelo fights a decent opponent, Jacobs or charlo, I will get it.

Canelo should be fine long term but right now DAZN is just getting noticed so you can’t expect huge numbers.

Not yet it isn't, it has the potential to be something similar. As more people get it they'll inform fellow sports fans what good value it is and it will get bigger, all they need to do is keep adding sports. DAZN has an advantage over regular US TV. They are international, they have a much bigger potential audience.

But wouldn't they want subs & people to get acclimated to the app before May.

And what if GGG signs with ESPN, who are they going to fight in May that's considered a big fight? Canelo himself said there has been no talks of fighting GGG. GGG is making his decision next week.

Yes, me too. Canelo will be fine and dazn wil be fine and now I can watch Canelo fight live instead of waiting a week because I refuse to buy PFVs.
