Wilder is obviously mad that Floyd felt he was losing the fight. So I read these comments in that context. Yes, you can fault Floyd for his bad promotional decisions. He does have a huge ego. He does crave the spotlight. As for holding his fighters back, the only person this really could be about is Tank Davis. Is Floyd holding Tank back or is Tank holding Tank back?
Floyd needs to share the spotlight with his fighters and give them the "rub". Floyd seems to think everyone can just do what he did and create a persona use that to propel themselves to the stardom. That isn't going to work. He's got to employ people that know what they are doing.
He's got the monthly events at Sam's Town that look to be a good start for his young guys to get exposure. Let see what he does with the Manny/Broner promotion. So far I've been disappointed with it. Still about 5 weeks left so lets see.Comment

Huge Floyd Mayweather fan, been for years, however I can't help but agree that Floyd isn't really helping his guys anymore, I remember like 5 years ago when he gave a lot if his fighters a lot of opportunities and it looked like he was losing money but didn't care as long as the fighters got the opportunity. He gave Jack a lot of chances, Mickey Bey, Ishe Smith, Gervonta Davis and wven Jleon Love, most of them blew it, most weren't as good as advertised, but that's not Floyd's problem.
That stuff just disappeared in the last couple of years though, it's gotten so bad to the point where fighters are starting to express their frustrations on social media. I don't know if it's his ego or if he he just doesn't care anymore with all the money and the other more profitable businesses. All I know is that if I were a young fighter I wouldn't sign with Mayweather promotions.Comment

The videos have been up on fighthype for a while. Someone asks him a question about a fighter, then he answers by saying "well, these fighters ...blah blah blah".
Tank is a f-up right now. Unfocused, undisciplined. How does his promoter react to that. Instead of changing the narrative, he responds by telling us how he was focused and disciplined and that's what made him great. Everything that happens at Mayweather promotions comes down to how it makes Floyd look.Comment

What does that have to do with the topic of convo though. To me, that's the thing that skews peoples views. Floyd is a great at making money for himself by himself. He sucks at making money for other people, which is the job of a promoter.Comment

He makes some good points. He is an ego maniac.
But Floyd hasn't done a bad job with his fighters in all honesty.Comment

Broner crafted his own fake persona like Floyd did and he rode that to being a draw that gets fights win or lose. Floyd seems to think everyone can just do this but they can't.
Floyd needs to just be a figurehead like ODH and hire some real professionals to do the grunt work.Comment
