Apparently, telling the fighter to walk away from him then turn around and walk back is something Jack Reiss always does after a bad KD. I've seen 2 videos of him doing that for other guys who were dropped hard.
I thought Reiss did a good job by not stopping the fight. I think the problem rational posters have is in other states, especially New York (remember post Magomed), the ref would've erred on the side of caution and waived it off or a commissioner would've made the ref stop it.
There is no way to regulate this its all up to the discretion of the ref.
Yeah but Mago and Perez were beating the **** out of each other for 10 rounds and Mago was complaining beetwen the rounds to his corner about a headache or something, I don't remember, and they still let him fight. That's what caused the backlash that occurred after that fight.
So I assume that refs being overly cautious post that fight applies more to a situation where one of the fighters is taking punishment throughout the entire fight, not 15 seconds of it. But I might be wrong of course.

Szef you know how these things work. They are n't going to take into consideration the details, they are just looking at what happened after.
Maybe it's just me but it feels like the refs are being more cautious and I'm seeing doctors and commission people checking on fighters more than usual.
LOL. If that fight was in the UK or New York it very well might have been Fury L KO12.
Reiss, IMO, did the sport a huge favor the way he conducted himself in the 12th round. It's a shame too many people are so caught up in BS to realize this.
True. Fury's "Undertaker" type resurrection and come back made headlines in the mainstream media, and that will benifit not only him and Wilder, but the sport as a whole, especially the HW division.
And I hate to say this, but the fact that it happened on the same night as the tragic Stevenson/Gvodzyk KO was a lucky break for the sport.
Nobody thinks it was a long count. They are saying it to save face/make an excuse.
Fury was up no problem and everyone knows that. It’s ridiculous of Wilder fans they think Boxing should change to an 8 count or a 9 count just to suit their guy who’s a bum.
Wilder fan and I agree, the count was on time, fury got up and showed heart, I think this argument should be dropped, u can argue the ref could have waived it off but the count wasn't long
Im a big fan of Wilder but damn people are reaching soo hard for that count excuse. Jack Reese did what he always does, and that is a fair count and a fair assessment, especially in a heavyweight world title fight. He has always done a proper 10 count. Even if a fighter is showing signs of wanting to quit and getting up slow on purpose, Jack would still give him the assessment to make sure the guy really wants to quit or not
