I find that really refreshing and I can appreciate that.On the English side Grandaddy Koba was an RAF careerist (as a navigator) from 1933 to 1947 who started the war in Burma and subsequently was one of the last out of Greece and spent much of the remainder of the War in North Africa. On the Greek side my family was part of the Communist ELAS resistance who are regarded as having formed the backbone of the struggle there - an allegiance for which they paid dearly after the war... by accounts they used to hide guns under my father's crib.
As a result I have mixed allegiances (specially given the British - and Soviet - betrayal of the Greek Communists after the war), but I try to keep an internationalist point of view as far as possible. Course, we all have our biases ( I was bought up very anti-American for instance, but I've come to accept that most of you guys are actually OK) but I do my best to keep them in check.
Most Americans have a lot of pride but we are really open to other countries and cultures. As for myself, I'm not bias against anyone really other than *********s now that the **** regime is over of course.
But I won't have people trying to rewrite history to down play our role in WW2 when we didn't even have to get involved in the European conflict.Comment

That is understandable but I think many people outside the US have the impression that it is especially Americans that ignore the role other nations played in the conflict. Especially if going by the output of Hollywood and suchlike. So we tend to get our backs up quickly as well.I find that really refreshing and I can appreciate that.

If this was meant for me.....
The movie thing was just a reference to the fact that everyone should at least be able to watch a factual movie or documentary about the US's contributions to the war. Of course, I know all about it because it's taught in every history class in every school in the entire US. On top of that, I've also watched countless docu's.

Been what I've been trying to stress in most of my posts on this thread. The War was a truly international effort and shouldn't be about which country did more or less or why. I'm afraid I'm cynical of the motives of all governments and systems of political power, but the sacrifices of the men and women of all nations who made victory possible should never be forgotten.I find that really refreshing and I can appreciate that.

You know that there's a difference right? I mean, we are an ocean away. The other countries that were involved are connected by land and were in direct danger from the situation. Not that there's one life worth more than another, but there is a difference here and I don't think you have considered that. That is understandable but I think many people outside the US have the impression that it is especially Americans that ignore the role other nations played in the conflict. The fact is that you don't know one f@cking thing about the US. Because if you did you would show it more respect. We're not the worlds police, world's nurse, world's beneficiary, and #1 super power for no reason. We're not a bunch of dummies like wherever the hell you're from has taught you. YOU are brainwashed. Trust me. Trust the Klitschko's.
And the movies I was referring to is more documentary than just for entertainment and most of them aren't even made by Americans you twit.
So go
yourself coming at me like that you pr@ck

See this is exactly what I mean. You say all non-Americans should watch documentaries about the American contribution to the War but I guess you don't feel Americans should learn about other countries' contribution. I would bet that most Americans are almost completely unaware of the role of the other Allied nations. If this was meant for me.....

Well what about the British and the other nations who fought in the War in the Pacific? By your logic they didn't need to get involved in that theatre either! Germany declared war on America first and would likely have joined Japan in attacking the US if the Axis power had grown unchecked. That's what a WORLD war means. You know that there's a difference right? I mean, we are an ocean away.
