See the quick left hook from Banks at 1:05 here that Clay did not see. But he recovered, I believe Dundee said he saw Clay's eyes and that he recovered on his way down. Dundee was sharp.

edit; a commenter says that Dundee said clay recovered the moment he hit the canvas.

Note the strange stoppage in rd 4.

I’ll check this out when I get home from work. Thanks!

It was a conclusive stoppage - there's no doubts. I'd see the fight again though.

I wouldn't mind seeing Ortiz against the other guys at HW, The Parkers, Furys, Whytes, Chisoras, Pulevs, Millers etc

U must be from England to defend Whyte like that!
He'll beat Whyte based on skills, power, aggressiveness and Whyte knows that which is why he's cherry picking Chisora. Ortiz publicly challenged him and agreed to change his proposed fight and date to fight Whyte still rejected. Don't even bring the Jennings fight up... the guy fought scared and ran the whole fight. Ortiz was in a fight, Jennings was in a triathlon.
Trust me Ortiz would own Whyte if Whyte grew balls to fight him. Only relevant heavyweights in UK are Joshua and Fury, the rest are garbage.

What did you think of the KD and of that strange stoppage?

Actually people WERE demanding the chisora rematch for like the past year, which they were trying to make but couldn't agree on money, then when the fight was like 2 weeks from being announced suddenly here comes ortiz with a call out

If you think Whyte would duck Ortiz you don't understand the sort of guy Whyte is.

Ortiz would be copetetive in that fight but I truly think his Wilder fight was his last good performance against a top 10 opponent, whatever his real age he is old, he's only going to get worse and worse as the months roll by and I think he's dipped below whyte by now.

Lol exactly who was demanding it????? Dont let Whytes promoter fool you into thinking people wanted that fight. On my side of town people wanted Whyte to face Ortiz in an eliminator which Whyte rejected. Ortiz is getting older but he'll still whoop your boy Whyte.

I’ve actually never seen this before. I thought Cooper was the first to knock Clay down, so first of all: thank you!

As for the stoppage, I thought it was odd that the ref didn’t count the time’s that Banks got knocked down (if the ropes keep you from being knocked down, it’s a knock down. Clearly happened twice.) I noticed the doctor checking on banks between rounds and then the camera cut. The problem with old fights like this where it’s just rounds and editing, we don’t know if the doctor talked to the ref. So that would leave two scenarios. If he did talk to him, he warned that if Banks continued to just eat shots, to call the fight. Or the ref just got tired of seeing it one sided. That’s very common, usually in lower leagues where mismatches are more common. The ref will tell a fighter “if I don’t see more from you I’m ending the fight”

The fact that neither Banks nor his corner argued the stoppage tells me that it was a good call.
