What happened with Errol and Broner though. When sumbody asked about his fight with Manny he said like x3 that he didn't like Broner as a fighter or person lmao

Garcia's flying too close to the sun here. This is deluded macho nonsense from him, the same as every other small fighter who's gone up in weight and got their ass kicked under the delusion that they're the second coming of Sugar Ray Leonard. Unless he comes up with some Willie Pep-esque masterstroke of boxing where he never even gets touched I can only see this ending with him being beaten into submission or knocked out cold. This fight could ruin his career, or even his life. If he somehow wins I'll eat my words but the recent history of weight mismatches tells me that the possibility of that is very small, and most of the bigger guys who battered around smaller fighters in those recent weight mismatches weren't anywhere near as skilled as Spence is.
If you ask me this entire episode is already a pretty poor indictment of the sport because no responsible commission should be giving this their sanction, and both fighters are taking part in this meme fight instead of more legitimate challenges they should be pursuing in their own weight classes. (Spence should be pursuing Crawford or fighting Porter instead of accepting challenges from much smaller guys. Mikey should be looking at Lomachenko, but even if he REALLY doesn't want to do business with Arum there are other guys like Linares or one of the British lightweights that he hasn't fought that are good matchups and have potential to make good money.) As bad an indictment as it is already though, if Garcia gets badly hurt in this fight it has the potential to be very bad for the sport. Fighters get crippling injuries or even die in fights more often than any of us would like but it's mostly on mid to low level bills outside of the US, with Benn v McLennan being the most notable example. If it happens on a major US PPV it'll become a huge scandal that casts the sport further into disrepute.Comment

Macho nonsense? This is boxing. People are supposed to reach for greatness. This isnt new. Duran did it with Leonard. Starling did it with Nunn. Theres no reason to expect death and destruction. Other factors often go into injuries in boxing, not normally jumping up a weight or two. This includes what happened to Gerald. It wasnt going up a weight against another blown up middle in Benn, it was sparring non stop with no headgear. Brain injuries are more linked to men who are too big for the weight losing the fluid around the brain during weight making..Garcia's flying too close to the sun here.
