Mikey should be looking for Loma not Spence.

What in the world is this?! Death and destruction? No one should sanction this? The man has won a title at 140. A champion!!! He's never lost a single fight in his career. He's not moving up to heavyweight. He is an A Class fighter. He's likely to lose. But he DEFINITELY can win. And DEFINITELY will not die! Haha what the hell. You guys here act like Spence is God. He's an excellent fighter as well. He knocked Kell Brook out, because Kell was getting battered and took a knee. Spence didn't separate him from his senses or anything. Sure Mikey isn't Kell's size. But you guys are cracking me up with this mismatch talk. If anything, Mikey will probably have issues with shots to the body. Mikey fights a style where he doesn't take much punishment. He doesn't allow fighters to get combinations off on him. He'll get hit by thunderous blows that night from Spence. But not in bunches. He'll survive. No need for a tombstone yetGarcia's flying too close to the sun here. This is deluded macho nonsense from him, the same as every other small fighter who's gone up in weight and got their ass kicked under the delusion that they're the second coming of Sugar Ray Leonard. Unless he comes up with some Willie Pep-esque masterstroke of boxing where he never even gets touched I can only see this ending with him being beaten into submission or knocked out cold. This fight could ruin his career, or even his life. If he somehow wins I'll eat my words but the recent history of weight mismatches tells me that the possibility of that is very small, and most of the bigger guys who battered around smaller fighters in those recent weight mismatches weren't anywhere near as skilled as Spence is.
If you ask me this entire episode is already a pretty poor indictment of the sport because no responsible commission should be giving this their sanction, and both fighters are taking part in this meme fight instead of more legitimate challenges they should be pursuing in their own weight classes. (Spence should be pursuing Crawford or fighting Porter instead of accepting challenges from much smaller guys. Mikey should be looking at Lomachenko, but even if he REALLY doesn't want to do business with Arum there are other guys like Linares or one of the British lightweights that he hasn't fought that are good matchups and have potential to make good money.) As bad an indictment as it is already though, if Garcia gets badly hurt in this fight it has the potential to be very bad for the sport. Fighters get crippling injuries or even die in fights more often than any of us would like but it's mostly on mid to low level bills outside of the US, with Benn v McLennan being the most notable example. If it happens on a major US PPV it'll become a huge scandal that casts the sport further into disrepute.Comment

He is very very skilled, like Garcia, uses timing, like garcia, has crushing power, like garcia, but is much more aggressive, and a south paw.
Garcia's power hasn't carried up this far really. His skills did against Broner at 140, but they were similar in size.
Spence will have youth, power, and a desire to prove that mikey doesn't belong in the ring with him. He will also have a massive size and strength advantage in the ring.
If he pulls it off, it will be a miracle. I love Mikey to death, but this is just a really bad matchup for him.
Maybe they think they see something, but when it comes down to having the reach or the power to make capitalizing on it worth what comes back, is what is really the problem.
Spence is one of those guys that nomatter what your style is, you are coming out of the ring ****** up, because he will hit you everywhere.
Spence is big enough, and hits hard enough that just blocking shots form him will wear on Mikey. Its things like that. The fact that even the light shots are going to be harder, its all gonna take a toll on Mikey, and hes got balls, but I feel like they will either throw in the towel quick, or he will get sparked out cold.
There is also the fact that while kell brook fights a bit fancier than Mikey, but stylistically he is basically the same. Good footwork, good counter punching, good jab, good timing. What happened to him? And he is a huge welter himself.
The worst thing about this fight, is Mikey will probably be game enough to hang around enough rounds to take more of a beating that was ever necessary in a fight that he has little to no chance of winning.Last edited by !! Shawn; 11-14-2018, 05:10 AM.Comment
