Hurd is very humble... That's the only reason he possibly, if he did say, it was close. Hurd is also on record saying he clearly won

I remember Lara winning a few early rounds, but that's it... 117-111 being because the KD, not because 9-3... It could've been 8-4 for Hurd

Like I said in my earlier post... Hurd not only out threw Lara, but also outlanded him damn near every round... On top of that, he dropped him for the cherry on top

I could see if Hurd just out threw Lara but wasn't clearly landing... Problem is, all you have to do is look at Lara's damn face to tell Hurd was landing

Lara was in pure survival mode for the whole 12th round

Lara thinks he won every fight “clearly.” Lol But I’ve got to say, he fought hard on this occasion. I’ve been a critic of his in the past, but I always try to give credit where credit is due. He’s probably gonna have to fight his heart out for the remainder of his career. There isn’t that much left, I reckon. Much luck to him. Of the Cubans that went pro at about the same time — Rigondeaux, Gamboa, Solis, et al — I gave Lara perhaps the least chance to make it. He wound up being the most successful. Boxing can be so unpredictable. Either that or I don’t know shit about it. Haha

Hurd put a serious beating on Lara. it was back and forth but Laras punches didn't have damaging effects due to Hurd's huge size advantage. i dont think Lara had a choice but to stand and trade because of Hurd's suffocating pressure, he wasn't allowing Lara to stick and move.

This. Lara isn't a dumb fighter, I think he determined very quickly that his best chance of victory was to stand and trade and rely on his precision power shots to deter Hurd. Maybe he knew that Hurd walks down and grinds out stick and movers, maybe he knew his legs aren't what they used to be. Maybe it was both. Bottom line is that he went with what he thought was his best approach against Hurd and I still think he lost a close fight. That was a hellacious beating Lara took and I wonder how much it took out of him.

I had Hurd winning by 3 points and I still would have had him the winner even without the knockdown. Boxers tend to be generous to themselves when scoring their own fights.
