If Mikey with his good footwork & superb reflexes get in there withErrol Spence with his speed & dominating power. Mikey will began to feel that he’s out of his league by round 7 (when the spanking starts.

old school trainers were mentors, they understood the psychology of fighting

boxers are born in a gym, not in a weight room surrounded by strength and conditioning coaches

oh but science, blah, blah..... and yet, many fighters today look shot after 6 rounds

I would back prime Leonard to beat every WW today, most easily
Overall across the board of world boxing and amateur boxing they are better today, better technique better nutrition better conditioning, with the elites there is not much between them across many eras from the 40s on, the funny part about it all is the old greats are only seen in prime from memory's of their best fights, the thing is they had other fights that were not so impressive and if that version turned up with a modern greats on his best night you know whats gunna happen.

Loads of old school trainers know fck all about scientific conditioning, they made their name from the few greats that walking into their gym, a great can walk into any gym and be great.

SRL's story sounds like BS. Exaggeration or embellishing it. Why is he having intense gym wars 5 days before a mega fight and almost getting knocked out. They barely spar at all the final week to avoid cuts.

Two things. Spence is a much harder puncher than Khan. Secondly, I saw Hagler fight most of his professional career and he was beyond his prime when he fought Leonard and it was still a disputable decision.

Well im sure from your responce that your ego wont allow any new thoughts. But again ill go by what a guy who fought them both has said...and i grew up watching him to and no he wasnt past his ****ing prime lol. Too many excuses around here. He got beat by close decision against a smarter fighter. Its ok.

                  " modern greats "

do you mean like how ordinary Jacobs looked against lesser opponents like Arias and Sulecki

or how ordinary Saunders looked against Akavov and Monroe

fighters today - on average - do not have better technique than fighters did back in the day.....

everyone used to know how to fight off the back foot

I see a lot guys who have been coddled by mitt-men as they run through their (predictable) combinations

So yeah, Mikey will need a gift from the judges just like Leonard to pull off the win. Great analogy.

Jacobs is not a modern great lol , Manny Floyd Jones Hopkins Holyfield Toney Whitaker Chavez etc could all fight and possibly beat any other great throughout history.

The Best of the eras not the average WCs.

I dont know what your looking at but the modern fighter has much better technique and is punching harder for longer, every single sport in the world is a mile ahead of itself from 20-40 yrs ago.
