Comments Thread For: Jacobs' Manager Breaks Down Options of Canelo, Charlo, GGG

I'm starting to think he signs to espn cuz there is no threat there. At dazn you have Jacobs (maybe), Andrade & Nelo. Nelo paid him twice so his pockets are okay, I doubt he would fight Jacobs again & I don't think he would fight a tall, skilled southpaw in Andrade. He'll probably fight the Japanese dude on espn move up in weight if Nelo stays at 168 or just retire very soon....LOLComment

Jacobs can't be totally ******, but you never know. He will convince people that he is the A side in the Canelo fight if he signs a contract worth more than $365 million with DAZN in the next few weeks and he puts bodies in more than 60,000 seats in Yankee Stadium in his next fight with someone not named Canelo Alvarez -- otherwise he remains the B- or C+ side.Comment

Hope I'm wrong, but I dont think Canelo will be back at 160. If he wins against Fielding he's got big payday options at 168 for Cinco de Mayo in all Mexican fights. Zurdo and Benavidez are fights that would sell big to Latinos. If Canelo wanted Andrade or Charlo they would have already happened, high risk low reward. Jacob's might hit the Canelo lottery, but I would be surprised.Comment

“Danny and I never make a decision without us talking it over with Al and checking on his insight. Al doesn’t do anything without me knowing about it and I don’t do anything without Al knowing about it. We always do what’s best for Danny as a team. Al and I usually agree on things 99.9 percent of the time. We never make any major decisions without both of us agreeing on it.”
“At the end of the day, Al and I always have the same equation with all of these fighters,” said Connolly. “We give them the best advice that we can, and, ultimately, we always allow them to do what they think is in the best interest of their careers.”
and there it is.....
newer fans need to take note:
FACT: fighters have the last word on their career path
they sign off on EVERY fight, and EVERY opponent
to suggest otherwise is utter bollocks
I first noticed the " but Arum doe " excuses with Pacquiao
to justify Pac's shltty Top Rank in-house opponent selection
then I saw that excuse shift to Haymon, and others
what utter bollocks
every single fighter is 100% responsible - therefore accountable - for their own resume
for proof (as if you need proof to justify common-sense).....
you hear lower-level/older fighters turning down offers all the time
you also hear about fighters like Garcia being shelved or waiting out their contract..... again, that happens ALL THE TIME
you guys who have become accustomed to blaming promoters for your guys SHlTTY opponent selection are.....
please god, let the casual-fan nonsense stopComment

I just want Charlo to demonstrate hes the best vs the best,if he gets the Canelo fight immediately then great, but if he doesn't I want to see him vs Jacobs/Booboo/or even Deryevchenko would be a great matchup where he can try to outdo Jacobs. The 1 thing that is perfectly clear is that ggg is no longer relevant & should retire in disgrace. But bottom line these fights should get made no more excuses,I would also be more than satisfied if Jermall faces Hurd/Lara at 160 too, bottom line is Jermall can't keep waiting on the Canelo fight he can force the fight if he beats Jacobs/Booboo but if not it might be til sept next yr at soonest that the WBC would order it v canelo(I know he won't duck him like ggg did,hed be crucified)Comment

I do agree that Arum (and possibly others) will give a fighter three options..... with two of those "options" being a joke..... in order to manipulate a fighter into taking the matchup he wants
sure ^^
but yea..... that is not the same as a fighter having no choice
and if that happens, a fighter can always refuse..... which will lead to..... the promoter being forced to dig up better options rather than lose his fighter or earn nothing because his money-maker is taking time out..... or, the fighter buying out his contract..... or, the fighter sitting on the bench..... like many have doneComment

Arum is the most disgraceful coward in Boxing & im no fan of any of his fighters until they prove their more than paper WBO champions by facing non WBO champs.Comment

Exactly he's not getting a percent split he's not GGG or Cotto he's getting a flat fee like guys like Khan and Chavez got when they fought Canelo. We know from the haymon lawsuit Golden Boy paid Khan a flat fee of exactly 6M. And Chavez said he was paid 7M flat fee and given 1 week to sign or they would move on. And both these guys are bigger draws then Jacobs. I think that's the ballpark we looking at 6-7M which would be more then 3X his career high. But if this idiot starts asking 10M or GGG type money pricing himself out then there will be no fight. GGG/Jacobs fight date was pushed back TWICE because of haggling over money. Canelo/Floyd/Oscar ect when the cash cow calls and makes you a offer you take that shyt or they say kick rocks and on to the next. Jacobs manager saying if the money ain't right he won't fight Canelo makes me think they think Jacobs is a bigger draw then he is and is willing to take less money to fight Charlo or GGG? LMAO
All he basically said is that his #1 choice is Canelo, but they aren't going to take less than what they'd get for a Charlo or GGG fight. Simple.Comment
