He was a big name but he never moved PPV's.

Some of those other examples weren't either especially Shane Mosley he certainly wasn't a big star.

Lennox was a big name but not a star.

Oscar, Floyd, Manny and Tyson are the only real massive crossover global PPV stars we've had really.

There is levels to being a star. So you could make an argument he was a mid-level star easy.

To me in this era, that I've been exclusively a fan of boxing in, stars have been defined by PPV success. I think anyone who did a 200k, 300k PPV event could be considered a mid-level star.

Doing a PPV at all might give you a argument for being a low level star.

But ONLY Bob Arum can make the claim that he "Knows How To Make STARS" the rest are just PRETENDING like they know how to make Superstars. Check Arum Track Record and even currently with Crawford and Loma and how fast he been able to build those guys Up

GBP Poached Canelo away from AllStar Boxing basically and Eddie and Matchroom are just LUCKY that AJ picked them after his Gold Medal Olympic Run. After that Gold Medal win he was already a STAR especially doing it while UK was the Host of the Olympic Games that year.

So NO I don't think Eddie or Oscar can "Make PBC Guys Bigger Stars", Oscar and GBP should focus on making Rashidi Ellis, Ryan Garcia and Travell Mazion "STARS" and Eddie should focus on making Joshua Buatsi and Josh Kelly into STARS because clearly PBC guys are not buying what they're selling and they shouldn't until they see PROOF. They'er staying with the guy who helped make Mayweather the RICHEST Fighter in Boxing History!

            This is accurate.

If Canelo could speak English, he would be just as big, but he's not totally mainstream just yet, mostly because of that small detail.

Times are different. Boxing has to compete with so much media across so many platforms and the dwindling American attention span I don't see any more than 1,2 or even 3 stars at a time anymore and only 1 crossover star at a time.

Arum and Don King kinda held up boxing until Floyd, Mosley and DLH. Now it's whether they fight the best of the best, which Promoters like Arum haven't helped, but promoters like Haymon have. Floyd pretty much ruined this draw by going 50 against competition either before or after their prime or with no business fighting Floyd (Andre Berto)

                  Everybody wants Canelo.
You'd wonder why they can't do it on their own without the Mexican superstar.
What, do you think, is PBC/Showtime doing wrong?
