Why can't promoters make their own stars?

Would (insert PBC fighter here) be a bigger star if he were with (insert random promoter here)

If all of these promoters can make PBC fighters stars why can't they make their own fighters stars?

This forum spends the majority of the time talking about PBC fighters. Danny Jacobs went to Eddie Hearn and ya'll stopped talking about him.

And in the past 30 years or so boxing has only had a couple of stars

    Oscar
    Floyd
    Manny
    Canelo
    Tyson
    Holyfield

Most boxers have been known but not stars

People stopped talking about Jacobs because he lost and had to rebuild. I know you want to blame Hearn for that, but that had nothing to do with Hearn.

Adrien Broner would be a star if he was undefeated. The Crawfords, Lomas, etc are highly talented but w/ personality of unpainted walls meanwhile dudes like Keith Thurman are just that... dudes not street, Always Injured is lame + corny Af

Charlo's have potential if they werent forced to fight leftovers and somehow landed on a undercard of a Pacquiao ppv, Dany Swift 2

You have no clue as to what you are saying. Promoters are and have been grooming their young talent to be stars with every show that they promote...…...Rockin'

I don't think promoters even make stars. I do think they help you become bigger & I do think PBC fighters who aren't aligned with a promoter are impacted by this. But stars make themselves ultimately. A promoter can't make a guy a star. A promoter can only help steer you towards you max potential.

I mean since I've been watching boxing I've only seen maybe 10ish guys became a legit star. Tyson, Oscar, Manny, Holyfield, Floyd, Lennox, Canelo, Joshua, Cotto & Mosley. The ability to became a star is some perfect storm of sh^t working out for you. You usually need the talent, the work ethic, the persona, the excitement in your style, the love or hate of fans, the opponents, the narrative & yea it don't hurt to have a promoter on your team. If you got all or most of those things going for you and a lil luck on top of it you become a star. But most fail miserable at becoming a star. Its a almost unattainable thing. Like 3 or 4 guys a decade become stars. Its not as simple as a promoter.

Jacobs was Main eventing at the Barclay center and fought on PPV and now he is fighting in the MSG theater WTF?
It has to do with the Fighters and match making. Joshua and Canelo would be stars no matter who they were with. PBC has a platform to actually build fighters up now and can help grow the sport. Haymon gave Spence a time buy after the Olympics and he has the highest rated fight in years. Hopefully the Charlo's and follow what he did. I will probably be at that fight live.

Bull****. Jacobs was more talked about after his loss to GGG than before his loss. Straight bull**** comment by you

Was he really? Roy is a weird one because he wasn't a PPV fighter but he was kinda mainstream. He was in rap videos and on black TV shows but not sure if he every completely crossed over. Maybe he was

Another poster mentioned Roy Jones Jr. Do you think he was a star? He was borderline to me.
