Idk man I’m probably gonna get a lot of hate but Bud didn’t look too good against a gimp. Looks like his power didn’t really carry to WW. Those fights waiting for him with Spence and Thurman just got more interesting.

I don't think his power is the problem its just his style: soften them up, break them down, knock them out. If you look at the latter half of his career the only KOs he got in the first half of the fight are Hank Lundy and Indongo, everyone else is round 6 or later KOs or decision wins.

I don't know if you guys had the same feed since I was watching on TSN, but in the interview they asked her why she thought Bud was such a big family guy and always there for his kids and she so quickly went "His father! Bud didn't have a father there! He wants to be the dad he never had!" and I was like "he wants to show his kids love, that he never got FROM YOU!"

Agreed. I felt bad for Bud.. Especially because the way she treated him reflects on how she felt about herself.. And she tried to project that on to him. Couldn't help but feel like she wanted him to fail early on just to prove her point.

He got caught with those because of Benavidez's size. He had to take risk to get inside because of Benavidez's size and wide stance. The other welters are shorter than Bud, so he won't be at a disadvantage fighting on the outside. Also, he never respected Benavidez's power and his trainer corroborated that.

Well, a little past the mid rounds Benavidez stopped creating space and pivoting with his right foot and landing those shorter rights. Before he had been steping back and landing quick little straight rights and jabs and seemed to be working his reach. He started standing still instead and Crawford recognized it right away and would trap him with his lead foot and Benavidez didnt seem to have the strength to push away hard enough. And started just standing still and then squaring up to the ropes and moving crudely.

Crawford most inpressed me with taking advantage of that and his gas tank.

Still, he’s leaving his chin up and backing away very straight forward and Benavidez wasn’t always landing with length in the beginning. He was walking Bud into them. Danny Garcia, for all the s hit we give him is great in those opportunities. Thurman even better (or was?). Danny has a chin though and Crawford might not be able to deal with the way Danny holds his ground and how hard and successfully he can hit between the punches.

Benavidez had no power and he waa freezing Bud up at times and making him have to reset his feet with good short shots.

I dont like Crawford vs Danny, Thurman, and Spence. Spence’s strength/physicality looks like they’re a class apart in comparison. Bud might not have the strength tbh.
